I have a large givi screen and a corbin saddle. My wife says the wind is really bad for her. Has anyone tried the lips or diverters on a givi to reduce the wind for the passenger? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello future scooter fans… I Had an opportunity (in my retirement years ) to purchase a non-running 03 silver wing at a estate auction and I thought what the heck, with the Honda Name how hard could it get?? However, in South Western PA I’m running out a nice weather to at least try it out before next spring… It appears like these parts are a little pricey but I plan on having this Burgundy wing looking new again when I’m all done with it. 4K on the odometer… It has to have a lot of potential, and I can put my heavy road bike aside and “scoot” around with this! signed, SY (ie silver years, lol) |

Hey Everyone, my name is Jose and just joined this forum today in hope of some answers. I’m from San Francisco and have a 2004 SW.
My question, I finally received my Clearshield Sport screen but it doesn’t fit. I was under the impression that the 2001-2013 models windscreens are the same size?
Maybe I’m wrong and ordered a wrong size from them but would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks in advance! |

Hello I am Charles Pedley from Niagara near the big thunder. I owned and loved my Swing but could not find one with low mileage when mine was getting up there. I wanted a low km bike to keep until I was too old to ride anymore:) So I started looking at Burgmans and found a fantastic deal for me: A 2009 Burgman 650 Exec with heaters and the works with only 8457 km on it! Had to buy! Just before that I had purchased these wind deflectors made for the Swing and work fantastically to keep the legs a bit warmer on those cool or cold days. These are brand new. I had a set of the ones for the Burgman and it made a fantastic difference! I bought them and imported them from Dobie I think they are called from UK. Now I have brand new deflectors for Swing with no use. If someone can use them I paid the equivalent of $279 CAD. That works out to about $210 USD. I am willing to accept an offer of lower because obviously I do not need them. Never used and in the box. Contact cp@cpedley.com Phone toll-free US & Canada 1-877-469-3017. Busy guy so leave a message if interested. Live in postal code L0S 1E2, Fonthill ON. Nearby Swingers could save if you wanted to come up to Niagara Falls as we are 20 minutes from the big thunder. First Come, first served. |

So, I ask the wise and well traveled; and experienced ... what are the best riding techniques to deal with riding on what turns out to be a quite windy day with sudden high gusts? Being a fair weather rider, I wasn't really ready for this kind of weather when out yesterday. It made for a tense ride at times, as I drifted about and feeling like a feather in a hurricane. I spoke to a Gold Wing rider, along the way, who also felt more drift that was desirable. His machine weighs in the 809# range.
Thanks

Mine worked fine with the adhesive strips, just make sure that you do it in warm conditions and give the adhesive time to harden. The plastic stud is removable so that you can take off the body panel it's fastened to when needed. |

Bought these a while ago and finally decided to look at fitting them. The kit comes with 2 pathetic little studs to hold the Deflectors in place! I know that they are attached with the adhesive strips but if that was to fail for any reason, I doubt that the 2 little studs would be strong enough to hold them. The engineer in me says use half a dozen self tapping screws. The question to those that have fitted them - What did you Use?

Recently someone was asking about hand deflectors; I can't find the thread now but I have just found the ones I used on my 'Belgian' Silverwing. They came from National Cycle in the States: part number N5502 One metal 'stem' is longer than the other. I cut the long one to match the shorter one (simply by taking off the plastic bits and fastening them back-to-back in a vice) drilled a matching hole, splashed a bit of Hammerite paint on the raw edges and Bob was my Uncle! Link to the guards here: http://www.nationalcycle.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=N5502I hope this is helpful. |

I have used a much simpler(and cheaper) solution for riding on windy days. I use leg cuffs from my bicycle days. Mine are made of spring steel metal but they may be plastic these days. They are split and go on and off in a matter seconds.I store them in the left glove box. They even work great when I wear rain gear. Howard |

I'm clued in to the cleaning aspect- just waiting for the weather to warm up so I can install them ( they recommend temp. to be about 20 C ) Did you drill 3/16" holes before or after you fastened them with the tape? |

For the curious- my deflectors are 27" outside, round the bend, length, 22" inside. 3" at widest end, 1" smallest end and 3 3/4" in the middle. A little less than 1/8" thick. Canadian tire only had these in stock ( images? ) Sales said there was little demand to carry more. ( and they were all for super-crew type trucks. Looked to be same type material and thickness ( from a glance thru packaging) Prices ranged from 80-150 ( for chrome). My 2 cents- if you enjoy treasure hunting its possible you may find something ( probably for a car) at an auto parts dealer. For all the time and effort, they're not going to look as GOOD as the stock ones. For myself, look is just as important as functionality. Good luck-hope this has helped( if you want'em, just buy em ) |

Deflectors arrived today ( 8 days after ordering. ) Cost in cdn dollars 290. Just from an appearence aspect ,they are a quality product. Part of the reason I decided to go this route is the belief that they would provide a higher re-sale value to my bike. Thats yet to be proven but they look so much better than any alternative I've seen. The only downside is the instructions are similar to the airflow instructions-alllmost useless. |

Hi, New member here in upstate ny, bought a 2007 silverwing -lots of fun and have been adding a few things. Made some leg wind deflectors from fiberglass and carbon fiber and they work great -much better protection and even helps with passengers legs. will try and add a few pics. Am thinking about making some more using mine as male mold peice but they are a lot of work so not sure yet as it would be difficult to make any money considering labor &materials-each set would have to be hand laid up from 4-5 layers of cloth and carbon fiber and then the mounting brackets and all. If I do make anymore I will post info. -having trouble w/pics max file size? maybe they have to go elswhere? |

Hear in the U.S the dealers don't carry them so I did pay a high price for them thinking they may be good for our one winter month. But after thinking about it I figured it would not be worth being hot for the eleven months of summer. I don't think I would like foot pegs, but I can see wear they may help someone in the hot summers to have some air coming up your pant legs. Honda don't give us hear in the U.S. the option of the power outlet in the left glove box and I'm not sure but we may not have the option of heated grips. New I know we can add them but we still have to run wires as the harness does not have them hear. You could say why have a GPS as that is what maps and street signs are for. It is all up to what the rider likes to make his scooter fit him or her. My options are to make me happy not someone else. And that's the way it should be.
Do you still have the deflectors:? If so do you want to sell them? |

I am looking to add a large (45-50L) Top Box and soft (not too big) saddlebags. I plan to leave the heavy stuff under the seat and use the other storage for the relatively lighter items. I am guessing that having the Top Box mounted will not result in a noticeable difference in handling during windy conditions - but this is only a guess. Have you noticed any handling issues/differences when riding in winds (15mph and up) with a large Top Box as compared to not having your Top Box mounted? Thanks. |

I have money for you. Got your attention yet? Today I traced a pattern of the leg deflectors that I have, made out of a hard rubber that I bought from Three Brothers years ago on E bay, that are no longer available and work great. I also took the thickness and measured the two screws that should be included along with the brackets. Personally I would have made the brackets a bit thinner. I took a picture but as of yet not downloaded. As I understand, there is a great need for these things here in the U.S. I believe with a die, these could be knocked out at about $ 3.00 a piece. I believe I paid $ 75.00 for them. You can see what they look like on my personal album under lights # 1 and #3 Any one interested in making me an offer? |

I am happy with my second pair. The first (both bought on eBay) were a cheep plastic that I disliked very much because there was a very visible sharp bend at the point were it starts to turn upwards towards the glove compartments. I believe it was made from the same material as used in trimming a lawn or around a tree. The second set was made of a much thicker rubber and it does a great job cutting the wind. Not only does it cut the wind, but the other day I made a (darn it) while trying to get the bike up on the rear stand to put air in the tires, all a sudden, the bike slowly fell on its side. Some one came running to my aid saying he had a scooter also but not nearly as big or beautiful as mine. The point is, when I picked up the bike, the only thing that was scratched was the end bar and nothing else thanks to the thick rubber wind deflectors. If I was not working 6 day a week I would look for a place to have these made in the USA. and make a little extra money. |

Couple days ago, riding home in 80-90 KMH wind with gusts. Not fun! The toughest part to me is when you're getting a really strong side wind that is gusting and you're riding in and out of protected areas or in heavy truck traffic. Anyway I'm glad I had the Airflow as I adusrted it to the lowest level so it wouldn't act like a sail on me.

I have a British work colleague who will be coming to the US to meet with me in mid-October, and he is willing to bring the leg deflectors with him. I only need this done if I decide to purchase a new set from a UK Honda dealership, which may turn out not to be the case if some other alternatives turn out to be possible. In any case, I am planning for the possibility that I need him to bring them. In order for him to determine if he can do it he needs to know if they will fit in his suitcase. That means that I need to know the exact outside dimensions of the leg deflectors. As they are boomerang shaped the dimensions are a little awkward. The dimensions I need outside edge to outside edge are: >> Length: Measure from outer edge edges of the tips at each end. >> Width: Draw an imaginary line from the outer edges of the tips at each end. If they are mounted on the bike these are the edges closest to the back of the bike. Measure from this line to the outside (front) edge of the bend. >> Height: Measure the distance from the surface of the fairing to the outside surface of the deflector.
Thanks for your help folks! |

I am planning to buy a pair of leg deflectors for my SWing later this fall. As most of you already know, for some inexplicable reason they are not available in the US. I can order a set from Britain and it will cost me GBP105 plus GBP50 for shipping (probably includes customs). For us yanks that means about $245 dollars total. That is just so incredibly expensive for two small pieces of plexiglas. I have had a pair before and they definitely made a significant difference in the winter, but it just galls me to spend that much for them. I just don't want to pay so darn much. So...
Does anybody here in the US know a cheap way to get these? Do any of you Brit's know of any way to get a set cheaper? Is there a discount outlet for Honda parts where it might cost less, and where shipping to the US might cost less? I sure hope some of you guys have some ideas before I mortgage my house to get them.
Thanks! |

Unfortunately one of them got damaged when the bike was tipped over in the wind (while parked). I now wish to replace them, but I'm not sure where I can find them. I ordered my old pair several years ago from the UK because Honda doesn't import them here. Can anyone give me a lead to a supplier? Does anyone have a set of these they might be interested in selling? Thanks everyone! |
