| A few years back, I had to be towed to our local shop on a flatbed truck and the driver overtightened the straps causing the right side of the handlebar to be slightly off but not enough to really complain about but never stopped thinking about the problem. In the meantime, I used tie wraps to secure the upper and lower handlebar covers and just recently bought on Ebay a used handlebar that was from a 07 and mine an 08. Both years use the same part number, but I could not get the cover to fit. The seller guaranteed that it was off the 07 and it feels correct while sitting on the bike. Then I bought a new cover from the dealer and have the same problem of getting it to fit even after removing both master cylinders. I'm perplexed and feeling stupid again. |

| Ah John, you lead a charmed life.
The handlebars were probably bent down (& outward) when the recovery guy cranked down on his straps securing the scoot.
Realistically the only solution would be to replace the bars. |

| I experienced the same issue after trailering my Silver Wing. Tried two or three things to correct the cover fit but nothing was satisfactory. New handlebar made everything fit just like it should. I couldn't see that my handlebar was bent until I laid it along side the new one. |

Realistically the only solution would be to replace the bars. Exactly. And I did replace the handlebars with a used one I bought on eBay and the nice man assured me they were from a 07 and mine a 08 with the same part number. I'm such a tidy person that I tossed out the original before the new cover arrived, but I guess because the new cover does not fit, there must be a problem with the used ones I bought. Thank you very much for the charmed life. Now that my son 38 yeas, old and I are on YouTube, tic tock and Instagram making Big Beautiful Bubbles Luminescent electrifying nighttime bubbles, I do feel blessed and charmed. We are booked every weekend and this weekend have 3 shows. I hope he knows where the coffee is. |
