| I added fuel to the tank yesterday. No fuel on floor but had a strong smell of gas in garage in the morning. I started to get SW off center stand and gas started running out from under the SW. When I quit moving it the leak stopped. I sat on the bike to move it outside and it started pouring out again profusely. Moved outside, got still and stopped leaking. How do I find the leak, whether tank or line? |

| There could be hole in the fuel tank at such a level that swishing around of the fuel, (i.e. moving the bike around), is causing it to seep out. |

| Looking for that now but it does not seep. It pours! Stops as soon as bike is still. Wondering if it could be. Cracked rubber hose that opens up when pressured?? |

| Going back to your first post you mention that your SW is a 2009 with 3600 miles. That suggests that it has been sitting unused for quite awhile. If it been sitting for months with less than a full tank there is a good possibility that the tank has developed a rust hole.
The fuel lines are under pressure (~40 psi) when the ignition is ON. So if it is not leaking when the SW is running and on the center stand and only when the SW is moved and the fuel is sloshed about, then that indicates that there is a hole in the upper section of the tank.
Hopefully not.
But if so then the best option is to find a good used tank on eBay. However if you need to order a new one from Ron Ayres or Partzilla (check both) take some comfort in that the new Honda tanks come complete with the fuel pump and fuel level sending unit as part of the deal.
You’ll need to remove the panel under the seat to expose the top of the fuel tank to inspect.
Please let us know how you get on with this. |

| Took the seat off and panel. Could not see much until I rocked the bike and sloshed gas around and saw gas pouring out from around the fuel pump cover. Looks like the seal on the fuel pump is shot which means the fuel tank will have to come off. Not looking forward to that. |

There are several posts here about R & R the fuel tank. Use the Search window, above. The biggest PITA is removing that 3rd nut just above the fuel fill. Somebody posted a tip on that. |

| I finally Got everything apart and fuel tank dropped, but what an ordeal. I would like to find the one piece assembly but can not find all separate parts. We’re you referring to a newer one piece model that fits a 2009? |

I had to replace my 2006 tank due to rust holes in the bottom from sitting in storage for five years next to a saltwater bay. I ended up ordering a new tank and it came with the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel gauge sending unit already assembled and installed. Frankly I think I’d recommend that instead of trying to replace the gasket, in case other parts of the fuel tank are ready to spring a leak too. Prior to replacing my tank I tried a two part epoxy and fiberglass metal tank repair kit. It worked great, but another hole opened up in the tank within 24 hours. |

- Hey Brian, Maybe you could post the part # of the tank assembly shown on your shipping receipt for Grandnglorious. I’m sure he’ll be reassured by your experience.
https://www.silverwing600.com/t12665-questions-full-fuel-tank-drained-out-last-night#129632 Good idea, thanks. I looked for it but didn’t realize the image was in that thread. The part is Tank, Fuel, Honda, item number 17510-MCT-010 I ended up ordering it from eBay which was a couple dollars more than Ron Ayres because I wanted to use the PayPal pay in 4 option. I found the item link in my purchase history: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284798353063 Ron Ayers - $34 cheaper: https://www.ronayers.com/oemparts/partsearch/honda?partsearch=17510-mct-010 |

| By the way, if you want to try just replacing the seal under the fuel pump access before trying a new tank, I have a new unused one. I’d be happy to toss it in a padded envelope and mail it to you. I ordered one prior to realizing the new tank came with one pre installed. |

| Thank you for your advice. I’m going to keep my old tank and replace the fuel pump assembly. There wasn’t even a gasket on the fuel pump. No wonder it leaked so badly. I ordered the fuel pump from Motosport for a hundred dollars cheaper. This is a great forum. Now pray I can get it all back together |

| I decided to get a new tank. The old one was rusty inside and I don't want to have to take it off again any time in the future. So I'll have a new tank and fuel pump assembly. Thanks for all the advice. I'm now waiting for delivery and then re-assembly. |
