| I'm still recovering from rotator cuff surgery I had six weeks ago; I'm not strong enough yet for the weight of the Silver Wing. At least I'm not comfortable with it. But I'm having scooter withdrawal, so I'm picking up a new NHX110 Elite this afternoon. (I believe it's called a "Lead" in Europe.) I got a really good deal on it -- less than what a new Ruckus goes for. I went in to the dealer to look at a Ruckus specifically, but the Elite is so much more bike. The coolest part is, it's the same color (almost) as my 2009 SWing. And it has storage, protection, and performance that the Ruckus doesn't.
Does anyone on the forum have any experience with the new Elite/Lead? I'd be curious to hear what your opinions are.
Happy New Year everyone! Get your party on tonight, but stay off your scoots and out of your cars! |

| Yes!..........My neighbor Jack purchased one early this year. Fantastic fit and finish. He has had no issues whatsoever. The acceleration had surprised him, as it is quick for its displacement. Brakes are excellent. He rode it over to the office to show it off...........I opened the double doors and had him ride right into the building. Everyone was impressed. Jack was grinning ear to ear! We probably all need one. Cheers, and good luck with recovery! Jeff |

| No offense taken by me, Roger; after all, this is the "other scooter" section.
From what I've heard, the 500cc Aprilias are quite fast. I personally think the X-9 is much better looking than the Scarabeo or Beverly. But that's a great price.
I put about 80 miles on the new Elite today; that's about all the shoulder could take. So far, I'm pretty impressed with it. Nice ride, great brakes, decent speed and acceleration for it's size. I can see using it quite a bit, especially if gas prices get out of control. Still, I can't wait to get back on the SWing! |

| One of our local club members just picked up a 1988 Elite 250, that had sat for quite a few years. He now has run through a few tanks of gas and his MPG'S has improved to the high 80s. This is what he had to say after the first tank of gas. "I picked up my new ride, a 1988 Honda 250 Elite. I got her from Seminole Scooters. She has 7240 miles, all new rubber hoses &lines ,new spark plug, carb.rebuilt, cables, fluids, tires and purrs like a kitten. I've put 101 miles on since then, got 72.5 MPG on my first tank. She's very quick and nimble, lots of fun to ride! She's a sweet little ride and I'm a happy man!"
So this just goes to show how good they are. So i'm sure you will get a lot of use out of your new Elite. His 400 Majesty has seen little use as he is having so much fun on his "new" to him Elite.

| The family garage sports three Hondas, one, a 1985 Elite 150. Starts and runs fantastic. The suspension is a bit dated compared to todays tech, but for a 27 yr old scooter, it is impressive. Lets see Roadrunner, fast forward 27 yrs from now, that Elite of yours will be registered with a 2039 sticker on the plate and running like a new one, while sipping $15.00 a gallon gas. And you'll be a youthful 84 yrs old, sipping Blue Hawaiins on the beach,...........or sipping Geritol From Nurse Cratchitt's Meds cart. BUT...........the Honda will be running just fine. Jeff. |

| Congrats on the new Shadow, Jim. It's funny; when I bought my SWing last year, it was between those two bikes. In the end, I went with the scooter for its storage, weather protection, and lack of clutch. Still, the Shadow Aero is a gorgeous bike. I'm just not a cruiser guy, I guess.
Jeff, I too am sporting three Hondas now -- the Elite, the SWing, and a Civic Si. That isn't my record, though; in the late 70's I had five at the same time: CB750K, CB160, CR125, SL70, and an AN600. Of all the cars I've ever owned, the 600 is the one I wish I'd never let get away. Not getting rid of the Si anytime soon though.
BTW, the first tank of gas in the Elite returned 103 mpg. I just read somewhere that gas is expected to hit $4 per gallon in the states early this year. Wonder what the Elite will do when it's broken in... Honda's claim of 106 seems plausible. I average 54-56 with the SWing.

| Up to almost 400 miles on the Lead, I mean Elite. Now that I'm out of the break-in period I find myself running higher speeds, so my fuel mileage hasn't improved. Top speed seems to be about 51-52 mph, apparently electronically limited. Does anyone in Blighty know anybody with experience in improving that? I have a 32 mile commute (one-way), about three of which have a 55 mph limit. I sure would like to get that next 3-4 mph... Why only 400 miles in two weeks? Because my shoulder has improved to the point where I'm comfortable on the SWing. |
