| I opened my variator housing and discovered that the belt has touched the up and the bottom of the housing is that normal? And the other question is the vibration at some certain rpm, will J.Costa fix it? |

I am going to guess that you are running the OEM belt. In which case that is the typical locations for OEM belt slap. How many miles on your belt? - FinnWing wrote:

J.Costa fix it? I would first suggest cleaning the belta area dust and variator and variator weights. A cleaning may help resolve. I believe some people have resolved with J. Costa variator. If that is true changing the variator with Dr Pulley sliders may also resolve. |

E: Does anybody know about J.Costa evo2 fos Swing? Hi There, I'm running an 03 S'wing with a few modifications.... (Have a look at the comprehensive review here on the forum) If you do a few searches you'll find a lot of information here. Belt slap on a stock bike is normal, though some folk don't experience it as much as others. It is noticeable when pulling away from a standstill and at low speed roll ons. My stock belt was still in good condition when I had the J costa variator fitted, and I've never had any belt slap since. Accleration is also better, clutch take up seems smoother, and handling at walking speed also seems better, top speed also improved..... Only down side is poorer MPG. But a power commander will fix that. I've never had a vibration problem other than some annoying "wobbles" being transmitted through the handlebars at 25-35 mph... That has very nearly been fixed by heavier bar ends, and new front wheel bearings. There is also a thread running about that. On older mahcines sometimes you can get a vibration which comes from the plastic cladding, cabling and wires around the handlebars.... Nothing that a few cable ties can't fix..... Have fun. |
