| $9100 seems like they are charging full list price for a leftover 2012

| For a comparison, a local dealer here in Md is listing a new 2012 SW for $7999 ( before taxes, tags, freight, etc )
Of course we are farther north than you so that may affect the pricing. |

| Keep looking or renegotiate. That IS nearly MSRP for a leftover unit. I paid a little over 9K for mine and 1.9% almost a year ago... See if you can find a NEW 2011. 2011 and 2012 scoots are near identical. Good luck.
You might peruse cycletrader.com to see what is available. |

| I have been quoted $7800 for left over 2012 in Chattanooga. Danger with left overs in todays' market is they are not greatly discounted anymore-----but come trade in time, you have older machine in value |

| Ron,
The last post of yours for $7700 seems like a very good offer. So why not just buy it from him? These SWings are very reliable and hardly ever break down (knock on wood) so maybe buy from that dealer. But like you said , use it as leverage on getting the price knocked down.
Here is the link for the kelly blue book:
http://www.kbb.com/motorcycles/honda/fsc600a-silver-wing-abs/2012-honda-fsc600a-silver-wing-abs/suggestedretailvalue/?categoryname=scooter
I know this is for a 'used' 2012 but it seems you will lose at least $2,000 right off the bat. Keep us informed on what you get. And may I ask a question? Since you already have a Burgman 400, and I have read your posts on the Burgmanusa site, why aren't you interested in the B650? I'm just curious. But good luck with your new Swing. |

| For JeffRquestion----why aren't you interested in B650?-----I have/am thinking same for this year's new bike-----Warranty just expired on my left over leftover B400---with 24,000 miles----no troubles except front pulley/rollers wore out at 20,000 miles and outer rear clutch bearing spun. warranty paid the bill---I furnished new drive belt....but did get 20,000 out of original.
After 10 rubber band drive maxiscooters since 1990. I am getting tired of the belt changes and expense/hassle and monkey business of rear wheel removal and now near 300,000 miles on these things....I am thinking.Only 1 broken belt underway.
Buffeting is my enemy!!! Just returned from 5 day, horrible weather/wind trip to Key West. 2100 miles, temps 25 to 80F----The B400 and TMAX are the worst in this area.
First in purchase I am looking for turnkey operation/purchase. Where does SilverWing fit in??? Price/Honda/can be made nearly buffet free (GIVI adj Windshield,Baker Air Wings,Air/windguards,homemade lowers.)
SilverWing is also a bit dated----but really don't want the hassle of adding electric outlet (US market), heated grips, often belt changes.....and the money you have to spend to make bike right. I do own work.
So to B650----no belt changes, probably at least 50,000 drive line no trouble life/electric windshield/heated grips/electric outlet/ease of rear wheel removal---I don't care about heated seat. Weight....I am feet up rider and do little pushing around.
And $10,000 is a lot of money for putt putt, remembering I am first a motorcyclist and have done 1.2 million miles on them. |

| John,
If you get a B650 please tell us about it. I hear they are very nice bikes but I'm just put off by the stories on the burgmanusa site. I know it is a very, very, small percentage of 650's that get that belt trouble, but if you don't have the maintenance plan it can cost up to $3,000 to repair it.
I think if I ever get rid of the SWing I would get that new Honda 700 m/c. Maybe try the DCT or just go back to changing gears.
Do you think you would get the extended maintenance plan if you buy the 650? |

Yes, but at least it is better than first deal. You can always keep looking :-) I would assume the 9100 deal would get tax, license added to it also? |

| For JeffR------my take on Burgman 650 claimed drive line trouble------most who complain have bought used, not knowing history, have drive line problems and expect Suzuki to pay....even though bike is long out of warranty.I expect bought new, used right, I would get 50,000 or so trouble free miles.
Extended warranty---most cases an expensive joke, can fine print can you to death.
For your info---I have also tested the BMW 650 scooter---not my piece of cake, heavy, Kymco heart! Buying a real Kymco would much cheaper |

| Ron, 8,641 out the door isn't bad if it includes sales tax and all fees - that is better than the deal I got last year for my 2012 out-the-door.
3.99% is Honda's best rate right now for people with good credit. They used to offer a 1.9%, but don't right now. I would be surprised if any financing company would beat Honda's best rate on a Honda, if you qualify for it.
I don't like a five year loan on a scooter though. A lot can happen in five years. If you go this way, I would try to pay a bit extra each month - even ten dollars extra is four months earlier true ownership. It is really nice to have that title in your own hands.
2,000 down doesn't seem unreasonable.
I do think the Honda is a better long term value, easier to maintain. There is no belt change in the Suzuki, maybe (the belt change if you are unlucky and it does go is a huge - think well north of $1,000 - on the Suzuki if done by a dealer, and beyond the abilities of many shade tree mechanics). But look at the routine work - that 7,500 mile spark plug change in the Suzuki will take longer than the 15,000 mile Honda belt change! And you'll spend less on maintenance than on gas with the Wing (don't know about the Suzuki as I haven't done it's calculation for total cost of maintenance, other than it obviously being more money due to additional labor and significantly higher parts costs than the Honda).
FWIW, I bought the extended SW warranty from Honda. The price was great - less than labor alone on anything but the simplest job. |

| Ron,
I remember that I read your posts on the BUSA site but just didn't remember about your experience. Hope I didn't open up a can of worms. Good luck with finding a good deal on the SWing. For some reason dealers still do charge alot, IMO, for the SWing even though it is a bike that hasn't had many changes at all through the years. But I really like my SWing and have had it since 2007.
John,
Yes, it seems the B650 fails in a very, very small % of cases, but I still read the stories on the site. I didn't know they came with heated grips though in the states. I thought that was only in Canada and Europe. I don't know why they just don't ship the same bikes to us in the U.S. though. When do you think you will buy? |

| to answer JeffR----when will I buy?? Little turned off by what is available right now---I have another 16,000 or miles before driveline wears out or belt needs replacing-----then my source for SilverWing, Southern Honda, usually has plenty....so have stored that info. Burgman 650 2013 have not been supplied to US dealers yet or is there a fixed price.
I am also considering Vespa GTS 300---no dealers, slow Italian parts service BUT can be buffet free with right windshield!! Last new Vespa, 1987 Germany--Pirmasens PX, left over from the last 2 stroke 150 cc US models, $350 or $400 as I recall-----it was my machine of choice for winter Elephant rally or summer Stella Alpina-----and no buffeting, good in snow (Elephant) good in mud/ice (Stella). Rode it at least 3 years, had other bikes at the same time if I wanted to go fast. |
