After picking up the bike from the dealer, got it home to give it a proper look over, and found no problems at all, so spent the day cleaning and polishing, and now looks even better Smile
Looking through the service book, it has a full main dealer history, and the oil and filter were changed prior to me collecting, plus the plugs were replaced, so I went further and replaced the air filter and final drive oil following the instructions on here, which I found to be straight forward and easy to follow, took about an hour for both, the removed the belt covers, checked the belt and cleaned out the housing and foam filter, this took about an hour in total, then I swore for a bit because I forgot to replace a cable into the grooves provided, so had to remove cover to sort it, so now all is well, and for a first attempt found it easy providing you take your time, so if you have not done this yet, give it a try.
The air filter was very dirty at 9000 miles, the book says change at 12000, glad I did it.

Thanks for all the handy hints and tips on here, made my life a whole lot easier. cheers

Yeah, black is great to help you find the dust to wipe off. Looks nice when it's off though.

Good for you and your maintenance. The more you learn to do yourself the less you'll have to rely on Dealers.

I'm on my 78th bike and aside from a leaking final drive seal on a new 1979 Honda CX500 and bad battery on a new 1987 BMW R65, both requiring warranty repair, my bikes/ scooters have never went into any dealership. I do all of the work myself as I don't trust service depts. much.

Sam:)
