| Hi All......Just a bit of information for members. I've just had a letter from Honda (UK) telling me that there is a recall on many Honda models 2007 - 2015 including the SWing and I quote the wording of the letter.......
"It has become aware of a potential problem with the function of the Starter Magnetic Switch on many models. It has been identified that during assembly of the starter relay switch, sealant may have been applied incorrectlywhich could increase resistance across the main fuse, potentially interrupting the motorcycle's battery voltage of the electrical system. An interruption of the electrical system battery voltage could cause the engine to A) not start b) stall while riding. In an extreme case, the increased resistance may lead to overheating at the fuse, and so may lead to a fire. The repair work itself should take approximately 0.2 to 4.2 hours to complete depending on the model and level of repair required, and will of course be carried out free of charge"
So, I've got my 2014 SWing booked in at the dealers for inspection on Oct 8th. Many of the members may already know of this and have had a letter from Honda.

| I doubt if I'll get a letter from Honda, I bought my Silver Wing new in 2010 and moved home nearly 3 years ago. I had no reason to inform Honda UK of the change of address as it was out of warranty. So unless Honda UK is using the DVLA database to match registration numbers with current home addresses, they can't inform me of the recall. |

| Meldrew, You and anyone else in the UK can go to this website and plug in the VIN and it will tell you if any recalls affect you. http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/recalls-and-updates.html
My NM4 had the same recall. I was in and out of the dealership in 20 minutes. |

| Put my new US-version 2013 ABS model into the Honda website and got the following response. Rather than guess, best to go to the source and enter in the information specific to your model and country.
VIN:
Year: 2013
Category: Scooters
Sub-Category: All Scooters
Model: Silver Wing ABS
Number of Potential Recalls: 0
Last Updated: Sep 21, 2015
There are no current safety recalls for this vehicle. |
