Just bought my first Silverwing 12-2015

Bought a like 2006 Silverwing with 460 miles.

Too bad snow is in the forecast.

Congrats on your new SWing and hope you enjoy it. Do you plan to ride when there isn't snow? The Swing gives great weather protection so just wear nice warm clothes.

What a find Geo, 460 mls, thought I had done well with a 2008 which I bought in October, with 6000 mls on clock.

460 miles, wow thought I did well with 8,000 on a 05. You live in a good area to make use of the scoot

At some point low mileage is not an entirely good thing if it means the bike has been sitting around unused for long periods.  My view is that unless stored under perfect conditions, motorcycles need to be exercised on a regular basis to stay in top shape.

Roger that, I saw that a lot with G'Wings = carb / fuel problems.

Welcome Geo. A 2006 with 460 miles? Are you looking at the odometer and not the A or B trip mileage? If you have only 460 miles on bike you should look into doing a fuel system cleaning cause old fuel can ruin injectors etc.; also those tires if original are nine years old ;another thing to think about. Since the weather is not great for riding you have an excuse to look into certain items as above. If you take your time and get to know "maintenance" ,these units are a joy to own. Folks on this site can help you along the way with any questions. Happy riding !

2006 with only 2124 miles.

Fantastic purchase. Hopefully the oil has been changed, technically it is not even broke-in yet! Check all the rubber on it and make sure it is OK, especially the tires.

As Glenn suggests .... check the tires. I have a somewhat lightly used 2005 and found the tires were the originals. Also found they were a mass of fine cracks. I changed those before they made me do it!

Old rubber can be hazardous to ones health!

Geo, my SWing has a history similar to yours: low mileage 2005. Original tires were swapped out early. Check your air filter, you may find nasty things in there even from the bike just sitting around for 9 years. Mine had an assortment of dried bugs and fluffy seeds coating the entire element. It is not a cheap replacement; but don't throw away the old one. You can gut it carefully and swap a piece of foam to fit in the opening. You won't need to buy another one again.
