Low rpm vibration - Vibration - Numb Hands Empty
PostSubject: Vibration - Numb Hands   Low rpm vibration - Vibration - Numb Hands I_icon_minitimeTue May 17, 2016 7:04 am

I notice on long rides I get numbness in my hands and assume I am getting some vibration through the bars.

Anyone else found this and more importantly, cured it?

Numb hands is a common thing all through motorcycle-dom.

Remember, relax, no need for a death grip on the bars. If youre traveling long distances at a constant speed, consider a CrampBuster throttle control or another "cruise" control method.

When I ride long hours on the freeway, I often take my left hand off the bike and rest it on my left leg, sliding my foot back towards me on the base runner.

Make sure your gloves are not too tight either, around the wrist and in between the fingers.

Relax, ride, take a break if need. A safe rider is better than an injured rider.

For $20 you can get a Go Cruise throttle lock that will let you take your right hand off the throttle out on the highways. It's a cheap solution, but not for in town or traffic. Gives your throttle hand a rest for a few minutes to restore circulation. A quick search will reveal a lot of info regarding throttle locks on this site. Smile

!- Gloves with gel palm-pads
2- Replace grips, Honda grips hard and small diameter, but will last forever. Foam has better feel, but shorter life, Kuryakyn IsoGrips with the bar-end weights= long life, large grip and lots of dampening....But cost is high.
3- Lever lock style cruise control like Vista Cruise or Kuryakyn
4- Relax!

I've not had this problem but I did put foam grip covers on just for a larger grip. You can buy fingerless padded gloves at any bicycle shop; should help. harley

Personally I like the OEM grips. But each of us ride differently and have different size hands et al. My friend uses the foam covers on his grips making them much fatter, he likes them I do not. In any event changing grips or adding grip puppies or some such is an easy and cheap fix. Good luck. I do have a Crampbuster installed; purchased from Cycle Gear. Helps on really long rides.

I put on those slip on foam grips, like others above suggested, and it did wonders. The stock grips are very small so if you have average size hands or bigger you may need to the grips. If you get the slip on grips just spray your stock grip with hair spray and the slip-ons wlll go right on in about 5 seconds. Then wait a few hours and you are all good to go.

I like the throttle lock, standard grips and a good pair of riding gloves, so far they have worked well for me.

Grip Puppies for me; two-fold benefit (apart from the fact they're very cheap) in making the stock grips bigger which I like and eliminating any vibration.

They're not for everyone, though, but if you buy some and don't get on with them it's a very inexpensive mistake and easy to rectify.

Numb hands---hanging on too tightly. The soft sponge over grips work well as cushion----Pain between shoulder blades, another sign you are hanging on too tight.
Relax.

Its one of those things I`ve experienced on some bikes and not others.

At present I have the SWing and a Vespa PX200.
No issues with the PX but the SWing affects me a little, but not as much as my old GSX1400 did! And that had foam grips..............but I do have small hands.

Trust me, I`ve been riding for years and don`t grip tight and with no clutch I get less cramp than with most other bikes Ive ridden.

the best was my Vespa GT200, not vibes and numbness at all.

scooters also present another problem----no tank to grip with knees....making hands work harder.
SilverWing has goofy high bars----TMAX better, low bars=comfort.
Agree on Vespa(had 4 of them).
