PostSubject: Silverwing Brake pads ? ABS etc etc   Silverwing Brake pads ? ABS etc etc I_icon_minitimeTue Sep 05, 2017 10:42 pm

Hi I was wondering what pads F+R a 2007 ABS model Silverwing will take please.

I think I have worked out from 2008/9 ish they are different ?

Looking up front and rears for a 2007 one it comes up ABS and some listed as non ABS or are that year ones all the same please.

Fancy getting some Ferodo eco friction ones, as kind to the discs and reasonable stopping power when cool it seems.

So for instance are 2001 to 2007 ? etc all the same whether ABS or not ? F+R.

Etc etc etc.

Thanks in advance SWD.

I've gone for EBC scintered hh type. They do provide better stopping power but will no doubt eat the disk a little quicker. My riding is mostly out of town and in the hills so it a worthwhile tradeoff for me.

Hi Steve, the scintered ones are good but to be honest I rarely get over 70MPH these days, more like 40-50 most of the time toodling and looking around.

So I think I might stick with organic type on mine.

How do you find the scintered ones for low intermittent use out of interest ?

Best SWD

Fine at bimbling town speeds too, although in town it tends to be more control braking for which I prefer the back brake.
To be honest 60ish is my usual travelling speed too, although obviously I need to go with the traffic on motorways and apply a little throttle for overtakes.
But riding two up I want all the retarding ability I can get just in case I need it.

I like the organics as well. I've used the British made EBCs on several bikes and find them to perform well. I put a set on my last Silverwing, good controlled braking wet or dry and minimal disk wear. You can buy several sets of pads for the price of one brake disk.

Warning do NOT buy DELTA brake pads. Available on E bay. I fitted them to front brake, last month just before M.O.T was due. Original pads lasted 26,000mls. Came home from a ride yesterday and grating noise coming from front wheel. On inspection these "NEW" brake pads were rubbing on brake disc, after 1800 mls there was NO pad left and the bare metal was contacting the disc. Managed to remove the pads and disc not damaged but what if ,on hard braking, the heat had welded the pads to the disc, I dread to think. Ordered new pads this time Goldfren ,that I have used in the past.
