| just taking apart my Silverwing atm as i want to check the general condition of things. will be be doing an oil/filter change later and air filter & fresh coolant . bleed brakes through with new fluid and fit new pads front/rear & handbrake and speaking of pads. I think the previous owner wanted to get their monies worth with these pads |

| Hi.
OOOH not good, don't forget to clean the inevitable gunge off the caliper pistons/ and seals and check for pitting before pushing them back in to fit new pads.
Hope this helps. |

| Hi.
Did you check the underside and front leading edge of the fuel tank for corrosion while you we down that low? You'll need a torch and mirror to inspect properly between the rubber curtains and tank.

| Hi. You need a worm's eye view of the bottom and front leading edge of the tank. You will need to remove plastic under cover first. Here's a link to the manual and other Swing files. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cpsqEmvlpa4A4qDPLVGbqlwMfpqnZ0EM |

| had a look at the tank. not too bad. surface rust in a few places. so will treat that and paint to protect the bracket under the tank faired worse i think bracket so removing rust and covering with rust converter paint .then a top coat to protect seams on the tank seem fine also while i mention the tank....any idea what id size is the fuel pipe going to the carb bodies ? re fitted the refurbed main stand...treated it to new bolts and nuts the frame in places will also need some rust treatment and fresh paint...... work goes on |

| Hi xwelder. The leading edge on my 09 was a bad as your 03, although my under frame was ok. Did you lift the rubber curtains to look higher up the tank, for detritus caught between curtain and tank? I've found the rust convertor sold by Tool Station very good, as is their Ethanol shield, which I use even with E5 petrol. All Silverwing's were PFI (Programable Fuel Injection) I also use the Fowlers parts system to try to locate by Honda part number, as these older bikes will have a lot of "Out of stock"/ "discontinued". Thankfully there still a couple of "Car accessory shop" in the rural areas stocking a good selection of hose sizes. Hope this helps. |

| the upper part of the tank had a small amount of dirt etc but looks pretty good did you remove your tank from the frame to paint it ? fuel line.....just measure the part where it joins the carb body....6.38mm so a 6m id fuel pipe will do i'm thinking twenty + year old fuel line so playing safe....... anyone added an inline fuel filter in this pipe to work alongside whats in the tank ? |

| Hi xwelder. Yes to the removal of the tank. Yes to the gap in weld, Honda do things for a reason. If you look close, the Rad didn't fair well ( either fork oil or brake fluid had eaten into the fins and dissolved them to dust) So it was replaced on this rebuild. The Quad lift is Maxi scooter must imo. It lifts 500 kgs. |
