| Like most people I have fitted Dr Pulley sliders, but, I wondered how long before they should be changed? I don't mean all the technical buff about measuring, if normal pulleys have a life of roughly 20/30 thousand miles what ,roughly should we expect from the pulleys, any ideas? |

| I measured my original set of 28 gm Dr Pulley sliding weights with a digital caliper. They were in-use for 60, maybe 70 thousand, miles and had no measurable wear. FWIW I sprayed PB Blaster with Teflon on the weight ramp tracks.
Currently I've switched to 26 gm Sliders and Dr Pulley ramp plate Sliding Pieces.

| Thankyou for early reply, I use the brake cleaner spray on the variator and metal parts but just use a cleaning cloth on slider parts. I wonder what the sliders are made of, probably a trade secret. |

| Old Limey, you could give the ramp tracks a coat of this to make them 'slippy' ....

| what would the benefit of lubed ramps be? Wouldn't it lower the gearing for a given rpm, since the sliders would move further out under centrifugal force due to there being less resistance? |

| No it wouldn't alter the gearing, it would improve the smooth operation of the moving componants thus reducing wear & increasing their working life |

| FWIW I ran DRP sliders in my '03 Burgman 400 for over 45 k miles with no discernible wear, and see no reason why they would not last 100 k miles |
