This is a Saturday and a Sunday event. There are several hotel/motels in the area and probably some camping areas. But, since this is a national event, you may need to start making reservations now if planning to spend the night.
There is a classic car show on Saturday |

There is a classic car show on Saturday South Pittsburg, Tn home of Lodge Cast Iron ( http://www.lodgemfg.com ). I had to lookup South Pittsburg, Tn on the map ... then I remembered from the map location relative from Chattanooga from years ago, not from reading the site (which afterwards) I see all of the Lodge pointers. |

| Oh yes the food - lots of cornbread with some great southern cooking.
And, this can not be stressed enough - there are some great roads with plenty of serious riding in this area of southeast Tennessee.
Y'all come and we'll show you around our neck of the woods. |

| I went to TN for the first time last year...went to the race in Bristol. I was looking at TN info, b/c we're probably going to spend some time in the state for the race next year...you do live in a beautiful area. |

| Emeskay, During race weeks, 2 times a year March and August, population in the area increases by about 50% (Bristol, Kingsport and Johnson City). There are a lot of good roads for riding and it is not far from Deal's Gap where The Dragon's Tail is located. We left MD and came here in 2001, love it here. Enjoy your stay when you come back. | I live down in Greeneville. Let me tell you... you can't go wrong with any roads that cross the mountains ifrom Northeast Tennessee into N.C. (Note that I-40 and U.S. 64 are currently closed for repairs). 321, 421, 411, 129 and some nice state routes are all beautiful rides and are close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also, there are some nice rides up towards cumberland gap leaving from Bristol or Kingsport. Also, Southwest Virginia has some nice roads as well. You can go from Abingdon to Damascus paralleling the Creeper Trail etc... etc... The possibilities are endless in this neck of the woods. |

| You left US-25 off the list. We recently took that one from Newport, TN to Asheville, NC in the auto - I regret that we were not on the bikes! What an awesome road. |

| Yes, U.S. 25 is another beautiful road (Newport is home of the legendary Popcorn Sutton who is infamous for his moonshine). It goes into Cumberland Gap on the West and heads through to Hot Springs N.C. and then into Asheville. I feel so blessed to be where I am as rider. When there are so many good roads that you leave one off the list.... you are truly spoiled! I'm not complaining though! |
