| I have 2003 Silverwing and I want to mount a Shad SH40 Box on the rear luggage rack. Do I need to drill through the rack to bolt the mounting plate? Is there some kind of mounting kit needed? Thanks Keith Dibber |

| Did you buy it used or new? If you bought it new the store should have some kind of mounting kit for it. If used and it was me I'd just drill and mount it. I'd also use silicone seal at the holes to weather proof them. I bought a used trunk from a guy and mounted it that way to my old 74 Honda CB 750. It lasted for several years without any problems. I did cut a piece of 1/4" plywood to fit the inside of the trunk and used some 1" washers on the plywood so as to not crack the trunk bottom. I used 4 1/4-20 screws and lock nuts to hold it on with. It probably wasn't the most professional of a job but it did the trick. And like I said, it lasted several years without a hitch. I suppose if you can find a mounting kit for it that would be the way to go if you are really particular.
My present 08 SWing came with a GIVI top box so I didn't have to worry about it. |

| Shad universal mount should work. Yes you do need to drill 4 holes through the rack. I have a Shad 33l case mounted but had to make brackets to fit it. Been awhile since mounted. Used some aluminum from flat stock and bolted it with 6mm bolts and nuts. Took a little bit of time and cutting drilling.

| Hi bud, unbolt the spoiler from the scooter (4 bolts under the saddle) turn it upside down & remove the coverplate (4 screws) you will see 4 'bosses' with 'blind' holes cast into them, drill through 6mm & bolt your adaptor plate on. |
