| Hi guys, I have givi's SR19 plate + old kappa topcase (i believe it is k42 model) topcase installed for half an year. Last weekend decided to upgrade and installed TB19 passenger backrest as well. So far so good, hardware matched each other perfectly.... except! I suddenly run into a little issue now with a top case- it can be clicked in place perfectly barely still 5mm or so between its hinges and backrest, but now I cant open it up fully - hinges are located about 5 centimeters below the backrest's top edge, so as soon as top case cover gets opened for about 30-45 degrees up, it starts to push the backrest and stuck. Anyone had the same issue and came over it? Please share your experience! I only could imagine I could dismount the plate and put couple of steel U-profiles under it so box hinges goes alittle bit above the backrest's top. Or alternatively may be simply go for bigger/modern case ? Eg Givi V56 or such? I measured box's height from the bottom up to hinge's line and got 15 cm, so to make hinges at least on the backrests top line I'd need a box with at least 20 cm "deep" from hinges line. Any advises/ideas are very appreciated. Really baffled now |

| Dniwe, It is a forum rule to first introduce yourself before asking for advice. Things like the year/model of your rides. Past bikes, years riding, etc. Anyway, welcome to this great forum! I am sure that there are many members that can answer your questions. Just give them some time. They are out riding and enjoying this Labor day weekend. |

| Hello! I think you will find all the Givi conventional MonoKey boxes, the curved black ones, will not be prevented from opening fully when matched with the TB19. Not so sure about the MonoLock ones. |

| Hi Mike, Yep, SR19 is for monokey. - MikeO wrote:

Not so sure about the MonoLock ones. thats sounds a bit strange. I thought Givi made em all compatible eg backrest/plates/cases. I believe for the backrest they explicitly stated that it is compatible with SR19, tho might be they meant only installation not using? How other are getting over that issue then? Always taking case off for loading then back on? BTW I believe I've see alot of pictures of Burgmans with both: Givi's backrest, givi's plates AND givi's boxes which definitely shows the correct position of hinges. For example this Is it only Swing cursed this way? |

| I can't vouch for a type of box I haven't used on my Silverwings, that's all. |

If that's a photo of your Silver Wing taken somewhere on 'Planet Earth', that not a FJS, it's the later SW-T version. |

I looked at the latest 400 Burgman in a local dealers a couple of weeks ago as a possible replacement for my Silver Wing and it didn't do it for me. |

Yeah as a replacement might be 650 but not 400 for sure. But back on track Upgrade the case or raise the plate? Thats the question |

anyway that 40l case doesn't fit in 2 modular helmets with headset .... Just still not sure if bigger one will work. Guys, if any1 owns Givi V56 Maxia 4 (or 3) case, could you please take a measurement from the case bottom up to hinge level? 'd very appreciate it |

| If the backrest and top box mount are bolted flat on the spoiler - no spacers or risers - the Givi box lid will open so the lid is at least at right-angles to the rim of the bottom half of the box thus ensuring complete access to the interior. In addition, the factory-fitted plastic restraining strap allows the lid to open to that point only.
I have had the identical set-up on three Silverwings and found it most satisfactory. |

I have had the identical set-up on three Silverwings and found it most satisfactory. Thanks, Mike. That sounds encouraging. Yes, both backrest and plate are flat on the back wing/spoiler. That Givi's SR19 kit itself has some sort of spacers for plate so plate is about 0.5 inch above the spoiler. But rather than that - no extra spacers. |
