As Honda has nothing in new street scooters in the US market, and what left overs there are, are getting old (SilverWing or Forza) and not deeply discounted.
So I bought a 2019 Kymco Xtown 300i ABS---price right, 2 yr warranty, although up from last year---$4900 out the door/taxes/freight/lic., etc., then I had to make it usable for my type of riding---front mud flap from Burgman 400, throttle stop (Aerostich), I marked throttle with white paint in quarters so I do not run wide open during the breaking in miles.
Yesterday, installed Puig Touring screen as air management of the stock windshield better than the Japanese maxi scooters I have owned, but still not good for all weather riding--stock had one still air point, 55-60mph, the rest sucked. New shield comes out about 4 inches higher than I want/am used to. But will ride 1,000 miles or so before I get out the saw. Looking thru dangerous in my book.
Biggest project---mounting and getting to fit my $40 Bestem Box and its mounting plate---there are 4 pre-tapped 6mm points in rear wing. Got it to work, by making template for the blind mounting holes---drilled and fitted. Looks fine and nice rigid mounting. Dog likes this box.
My Givi "HUMP" bag works----I use velcro to secure it.
Performance seems ok, for my use as scooter. Center stand--bike goes up real easy. On side stand added a bigger foot I had from my CB300F.
Kycom nicely made, front blinkers in mirrors, engine temp gauge and outside temp gauge, etc, etc. Have to see how this all works out.
I did consider Burgman 400---but already have had two new ones---the $8000 price scares me in the $4000 or more depreciation in the first year, not wise investment.
