| Hi, all!
I'm Rick and I'm a retired deputy sheriff from Blackfoot, Idaho. Bought a 2006 Silverwing a couple of weeks ago in Salt Lake City. Baptism by fire: rode it home (about 200 miles) in sub-50 F temperatures, some rain, a bit of snow, and wind. First time on a Swing. Loved it! My bike had 3,900 miles when I bought it. It has a Givi storage unit on the back and a Givi windshield, which I am very happy with (it kept the rain off my helmet faceshield all the way home). I am using it to commute to work and back (a whopping 1/4 mile each way) and some running around. Waiting for the weather to get a bit better so I can do some longer riding. Yellowstone is my big hope for this summer.
Anyway, I look forward to getting some help and suggestions from y'all!
Thanks!
Rick

| Hey, Rick, Welcome to the site. Pull up a chair if the weather is not conducive to riding. Plenty to entertain you right here. Some useful, some pretty hilarious; well, not exactly but it would bring a smile.

| "Baptism by fire: rode it home (about 200 miles) in sub-50 F temperatures"
Welcome! I had a baptism by fire when i bought my Wing, as well. I did the deal on the Gulf Coast of Florida and had to ride 180 miles across the center of the state to get home on the Atlantic side. It was a couple hours at night in parts of the state where there are more alligators than people. I thanked the Japanese engineers who made the bike so reliable MANY times that night.
There isn't much to do keep them going other than good, basic maintenance. You can buy a Honda Service Manual online if you're mechanically inclined (the bike is super easy to work on).
Can you please clarify riding through "-50" temperatures, though? I'm guessing you wouldn't be alive to write your post if that was accurate.

| Welcome Rick. Bought a brand new 2013 Silverwing 4-25-19. Am really enjoying it. Had a 2013 BMW c600 sport, that I traded in 2015, Silverwing is a much better ride in my opinion. Ride safe. Paul. |

| The dash in "sub-50" was meant to be a hyphen, not a minus... I wouldn't have survived a ride in sub zero weather! |

| "o-HI-o ? Would thems be minuses or hyphens ?" Thems would have to be hyphens. Minuses would be: o minus Hi would leave the last o being minused and that would leave nothing. So it would look like this: " ". I guess this is another thingie thing I couldn't help doing. I only do this so that I can educate as many people as I can... |
