Hello,

New here...need some help

Looking for help with the wiring of the lights on the Bestem Top box for my 2006 Silverwing.

- How and where would I hook-up the Topbox wires to the Silverwing brake light wires.

Thanks,
B

Behind the left side “body cover” —the panel with the seat lock.

Thanks Cosmic_Jumper....

I should have been a bit more specific, and to asked which colours wires do I need to splice into to make the connection from the top box to the Silverwing wiring harness. I sure there are several wires on the harness, for Lic plate, and signals etc. Just want to tap onto the correct ones.

Thanks again for all your help and input.

B

Just finished up my Bestem top box rewire project. I brought wiring into the box via a short wiring pigtail with 6-position square trailer plug, which includes circuits for marker lights, brake lights, turn signals and an always-on 12v source. I've got markers set for all across the back, which brightens when I use the brakes, as well as lighting a dedicated brake light in the lid. I added a courtesy light inside (made from an LED marine step illumination light). That light is hooked into a momentary switch that cuts off the light when the lid is closed. It is easy to unplug that light if the lid is to be left open for very long periods, but the LED's don't use much power anyway.

I also added a new form-fitted liner I picked up from Amazon, which covers and protects most of the wiring. I'll send pics shortly.

While buying LEDs, I also picked up an LED bulb for the under-seat trunk light fixture so it's less likely to tax the battery. Having discovered the switch for that light to be part of the rear latch mechanism, I now make sure it always goes off when when closing the seat compartment by gently pressing the rear edge of the seat and listening for a positive click.
BTW, I use a small right-angle pick with a screwdriver handle to directly push the rear latch mechanism closed so the light shuts off if the seat has to be raised for extended periods, or maintenance. Very easy.

Bestem Wiring Bestem11

This shows how my top box is wired into the bike via the 6-position trailer plug I used.  All the bike's wires shown can be accessed behind the left rear body panel (or, if you are a contortionist, through the under-seat trunk's left tail light access panel). The square plug in upper right is Honda's wiring connector for the bike's rear lights
