| I found a 2006 on RumbleOn for $1,577. I put down a deposit. It has not even been certified yet and I have not seen a description or photos of the scoot up to this point. I have been looking for a Silver Wing for about a year and they really don’t pop up for sale in my local area at all. I would rather have found something local but I don’t have a choice. Been riding a 2019 PCX 150 and it’s much too small for me. I want to stick with Honda because of local dealer support and well, Honda’s are fantastic. Is there anything I should be looking out for on this Scoot? When it it delivered I do have a 3 day 150 mile return policy. |

| Thanks. These are the photos I received of it last night from whomever is selling it. There does seem to be some scratches on it and the muffler cover seems to have a dent. I already priced swapping out the damaged parts, I really want the scooter flawless. |

| Price is right. Get it home and look it over, ride it a few miles before buying any parts. Lower panels are silver I think they should be blue to match like the SW on current forum photo .?? What do I know. Might be some used replacement parts.
I'm wrong just looked at a few photos silver is the right color. for US. model |

| I own a PCX 150 and have been either buying parts local or from Babbits. Is this forum the same way? Babbits has competitive prices for OEM parts. |

| Long Island ? My bother in law is from Valley Stream area but I know very little about that area. Take the ferry over the sound beats riding through NY. city to get to some good roads. It's still winter I'm sure SW will be a good bike for you. |

| I am in Suffolk County of Long Island, there are hundreds of miles of back country type roads that are twisty and few cars... As long as you stay on eastern Long Island away from the city I feel we have some of the most beautiful roads in the country. |

| Never heard of RumbleOn. Sorta looks like a motorcycle version of carvana. I found the posting of the bike you are getting, but it didnt really list anything useful or any pix.
I had a 2014 PCX 150, nice little bike, got it for my wife to ride but she never took a liking to it or riding. Great for around town, not so for lots of highway miles.
That is a good price for a Silverwing if its legit. I'm sorta surprised there arent others available in your area, unless its just the time of year. The local CL here in Norfolk usually has close to a 1000 bikes listed in the summer but its down to 137 right now (no dealer listings). The numbers will start to climb again the closer we get to Spring. Great time to buy if you can find what you want. |

| I want to try and make this thread a quick story of my experience with buying a scooter from RumbleOn.. they called me last night to let me know that the scooter will be arriving in Philadelphia within the next day or so and they should have it inspected, photos taken and “certified” whatever that means. So at this point, I put down a $250 deposit on it, they sent me the photos I posted above, and I am waiting for the rest of the photos and certification. I am glad I’m doing this during the winter because if it was riding season I would already be antsy.. |

| UPDATE: Inspection came back, I was not too happy when I read it.
The surprise- “ENGINE MECHANICAL. RUNS/INTERNAL WEAR”
They use a 1 - 9 rating system, 9 being a perfect USED part. The engine was rated an 8 out of 9. They said it runs great and sounds great but its 14 years old so they noted internal wear. The bike still qualifies for their included 90 day mechanical warranty. I ended up pulling the trigger and bought it. There were no fees other than $299 delivery to me. So last night 2/3/2020 at about 9 PM EST I e-signed the doc’s and paypal’d them the money in full for the scooter.
I already have plans on changing the parts that are damaged, mostly the muffler cover and front fairing which I found at Babbits for $285 painted. |

| Congratulations.
You haven’t mentioned the mileage on this ‘06 but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that RumbleOn’s 8 out of 9 rating was simply a CYA rating due to the age of the scoot. They certainly can’t rate a 14 year old machine as pristine no matter how few miles are on it.
Don’t be too concerned about that mechanical rating. Take comfort in knowing that Hondas have a bullet proof reputation. I’d be a bit more concerned with that body and exhaust damage.
BTW if you find that the muffler needs to be replaced Delkevic mufflers are ~1/2 the price and ~1/2 the weight of Honda’s muffler. And their carbon fiber model doesn’t get blisteringly hot the way that a traditional steel muffler does.

| Received an email from RumbleOn today at 12:30..
Thanks for the business!! I was able to confirm we have everything we need to release the bike to our shipping team. We won't have any updates or any specific delivery details until we have a committed driver which usually takes 1-3 weeks. Once we know all the specific delivery info we will reach out with more information. See the attached copies of your paperwork. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks
So the wait begins. 3 hours later I receive another email fro RumbleOn

| Hello Rick,
Don't worry for the mileage on the Scoot... I got 4 Sw here . the 2005 over 77,000 kilometers witch is around 47,845 miles ... it run and sound smooth.... I saw one on the net once with 150,000 kilometers ...= 93205 miles... So the one you bought is new....
By the way your welcome home anytime

| For that price with those low miles, just ride it and enjoy it. Internal wear? Every motor that was ever started has internal wear. Congrats and welcome to the site! |

| Just received a text message from the delivery company, they just picked up the scooter in Philadelphia PA and can likely deliver it to me today. (Im on Long Island, NY) a good ride and a lot of traffic from Philly. I was kinda shocked by the phone call. I told him he can deliver it today and I dont mind if its at 10PM as long as thats what he wants to do. He said he has a bunch of bikes hes delivering on Long Island and is staying on the island overnight.
Let the excitement begin!!! |

| THE wait is almost over then. I'm sure it will be a good bike. Does anyone here know what state that inspection sticker on left fork leg is from? Not a PA. sticker. 8/19 it passed inspection less than a year ago . |

| Virginia. The bike arrived at 7:10 PM. I check all fluids, tire pressure, lights etc and took it for a 30 mile ride. It’s FANTASTIC. Only thing, when I squeeze the rear brake lever it does not activate the brake light. When i squeeze the front brake it does activate the brake light. Not sure if something is wrong or if that is normal for an 06 (my 2019 PCX is not like this). I don’t know why the photos are upside down. |

| Brake light switch. Could be that one of the wires has come off the switch terminal (canyon dancer harness pulled the wires loose during shipment), or that the switch itself is bad, or that the switch internals just need some TLC with WD-40. See item #1 below: |

you hit the nail on the head, there is a little metal tab in the switch that the brake lever moves when you squeeze the brake, it was sticking to the brake lever, I separated it, cleaned it, and it works as designed now. Now that its daylight out, I rode the scooter into work in the rain and got a better look at it, its in much better shape than I was anticipating and I ordered a few parts to replace damaged parts. | Racer83L Tim gave you good advice as to cleaning the brake switch. However when mine sticks I use this:
https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/qd-3334/chemicals---fluids-16461/maintenance-chemicals-16867/cleaners---degreasers-16533/electrical-cleaner-17723/265369b2f91a/crc-industries-qd-electronic-cleaner/05103/4176079?q=electrical+cleaner&pos=5
Excellent for clean/lubricating switches etc without leaving an oily residue. I like WD40 but not for this purpose. |

| CRC stuff looks good for cleaning electrical parts. Most important it is safe for plastic parts many cleaners aren't and damage things. Most brake clean, contact sprays aren't safe on rubber parts like caliper boots and seals or plastic. Good find. |

| Great story from start to finish. Glad it seems to have worked out well for you. Some great info along the way too.
Be sure to check the tires for fine cracks in the side walls. If original tires ... they are too old now.
Be safe and have fun with your new transportation !
