Question:
With the SW's front wheel raised in preparation to replace the fork oil, it swings —and fully stays— to the left. Even if turned fully back to the right, it immediately turns back to the left. Can anyone speak to this matter? Thanks.

Now if you were below the equator it would be the opposite. Most likely the weigh of brake caliper or some cable, hose pulling don't worry about it. Who knows as long as everything is tight. Mine does the same thing.

It's gravity at work. The left hand side of the forks is heavier than the right side.
I find it very irritating when I'm working on the front end but there it is.

How many miles are on your Swing? There is a procedure to set the head bearing pre-load. You would need a fishing like scale. You measure a set amount pounds to turn the front wheel.
My 2002 Swing's head bearing had indents on the race from the ball bearings. Indents are normally created at the straight forward steering position.
