| Hello I have a 2003 Honda Silverwing ABS with 30,000 miles on it. It's running like a top. It's fun to see how many people there are now who are riding scooters in the USA compared to when I started riding this Silverwing. I'm curious as to how many people have Silverwings with ABS, and how many ride across country as opposed to riding mostly to work and back. Diane |

| Diane,
Welcome to this forum. Kim and I each ride 2005 SilverWings which are not equipped with ABS. We both live so close to work that our commutes do not really add many miles to our bikes. We make every effort to use our bikes as our mode of transportation for our vacations.
Riding out of Huntsville, AL we have over 18,000 on each and have been as far west as Kansas, as far north as Minnesota, and as far east as Virginia - for now. Have yet to ride to Florida - go figure. |

| Welcome Diane. I had a Helix and just traded it in on a new 09 Red Silverwing. I use mine just to wander the back roads. I'm hoping with this new bike to travel more. I needed the extra weight and the bigger tires to feel safer on longer trips. |

| Thanks for your responses. Don't forget to come out west in your travels--there are some beautiful roads out here. I've had my Silverwing on the road an it makes a great long distance bike.

| Diane,
Welcome. How many miles do you have on your 2003? I have the 2007 and have 19,630 miles now but I don't have the chance to ride cross country. I do get to make quite a few 300-400 mile per day rides though. |

| Hi Diane, welcome to the group. I actually learned to ride in Nevada. I was real young and remember some one having to catch me on a Whizzer because I couldn't touch the ground when I stopped. Thats about all I can remember about the Whizzer but can still remember running around Empire on a cushman and falling over a lot on it. Didn't know much about what I was doing but not much to hit in the desert country and I did learn balance and steering and lived through it all. I think both of them belonged to my older brother. Spent a few childhood years there and went to school in Gerlach. Have fun and stay safe. Dick |

| Jeff--I have 30,000 + miles on my 2003. During the last few years we did some trailering and I had another bike to ride, so the miles I was adding dropped off. I just bought a Piaggio MP3 500; it is a completely different kind of ride than the Silverwing. I plan to keep the Silverwing.
Dickie Our sons learned to ride dirtbikes near Fallon. They were taught to "jump off" when they reached a stop, since the adult bikes were too big for them. Luckily dirtbikes are plastic. They outgrew their small bikes before they grew into the adult size bikes.

| Hey Diane, You probably think I can't read. You said how many miles you had in your initial post and dummy me still asked how many miles you have. I responded to your post over on the other swing site about the yahoo site I have just for bay area riders. It is: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/BayAreaMaxiRiders/ You might want to join it to post a message of who would like to ride in your area. We have about 67 members and there are about 5 or 6 in your area now. We have monthly rides in the area and a couple of informal rides in different areas, i.e. a few people in a certain area may go out to lunch or a special event. Take care. |
