| I'm about to fit new rubber bushes and boots to both of my brake calipers. Reasons?...unknown.
I want to clean up the sliders and introduce silicon grease. That will protect the inside of the rubbers but I think I'll put a rubber UV protector on the outside. Is this a normal practice which I have overlooked?
Rubber degrades in UV light and I wonder how long our bikes spend in direct sunlight when we're out riding or stationary for long periods etc. The Sun's heat doesn't help.
Just wondered...?! |

| I'm a strong believer in Armorall for exposed plastic and rubber, but I'm sure other brands are available. In my experience the bellows section of one of the slide pin boots usually tears and lets water in. The other rubber bush in the callipers is much thicker and seldom fails. The other bit of rubber to replace is the boots at the brake master cylinders, the same thing happens there. |

| Hadn't thought of the master cylinder rubbers! They sell Armorall at Halfords here in the UK so I'll pick some up today. |
