| Recently picked up this '09, had 1600mi on it. Bone stock AFAICT. Everything seems to be perfect. I'm actually new to street riding as well. Haven't been on two wheels since dirt biking as a kid. Anything I should be watching for on a bike that's 13 years old? Thanks. |

| I would get fresh tires/fresh drive belt/change all fluids/fresh battery and just ride and solve problems as they come along.

| Score!
New fluids. Final gear, oil, shocks?, coolant flush, battery test.
In bike with this low of mileage, it's good to check if critters have made a nest anywhere like the intake etc.
I wouldn't change the belt unless it's damaged, but I would pop open the cover to clean and take a look see. A new belt is probably worth the peace of mind.
Check the dot code on the tires. They likely need to be replaced if they are original. Of all the stuff I did to mine, the new tires made the biggest difference in comfort/handling.
Nice bike! |

| Hey Dude. Critters in the ducts -- good advice. I hadn't thought of that despite having done it in cars a couple times. I also wouldn't have realized new tires would make so much difference. Thanks for the tips, y'all. I'm sure I'll have this thing a while because when my wife catches me perusing other bikes she always says I should buy. She knows if I got something else she'd get my SilverWing. |
