| I had Clearview Shields (in the US) make me a summer short shield in dark tint that I installed tonight (it’s humid in South Carolina as well as hot) so I want as much airflow as possible. Not cheap at $185, but you do pay for quality: Not sure why the software is rotating the first 2 pics Not a whole lot of wind protection, but as I said, I’m looking for increased airflow, and if I have to, I can add one of the windshield extenders I already have. |

| This post about short shields/screens brings up memories of the time many year ago when the top screen off the Givi Airflow I had fitted to the screen flew off at about 70mph over 100 miles from home.
Riding home over the Pennines back to Cumbria was downright awful. With just the Airflow bottom section the wind noise was ear damaging loud, and uncomfortable even with custom fit earplugs.
I had to stop and pull on the windshirt I carry under the seat because I was wearing vented Summer gear which was fine behind the full Airflow.
When I got home I had a headache, my ears were ringing, and my helmet, visor, and jacket were covered in dead insects and bug splat.
I've ridden basic Japanese roadsters with no screen or wind protection and never felt as bad as that, so every time I see a maxi with a short sports screen, it brings those memories back.
That's my other thought for the day.

| I just tried it…airflow feels very good, but I did put an extension on the shield to block the wind just a bit but it feels as cool as A/C despite it being ~ 85 degrees today. Noise was really not all that bad. I suspect I’ll use this for April to November here in South Carolina, and then use the big Clearview shield for the cooler months. (And I still can’t explain why the software here keeps rotating my pictures) |
