| I have a delema (sp), I have a friend (friends wife). She takes pride in her Silverwing ('04). It is one of the fastest stock Swing's I have ever seen.
Anyway, I did some things to mine and now I can out accelerate her for a dead stop and a little better on passing.
She is VERY aggressive and now wants me to fix hers like mine. She calls it her Harley Killer.
Here is the problem. Her Swing is the fastest stock Swing in the group.
She uses her Swing differently than I do..
Mine is local /short trip vehicle (less than 200 miles). I use the big bike on long trips.
She does all on her scoot (short long and well everything)
I am not sure about gas mileage hit with new parts (J Costa) . or longevity of pins. (replacement costs/miles) Well basically experimental to me. She runs through 1 1/2 to 2 sets of tires a year. Me every 2 yrs.
I have tried to tell her What I did is an unknown as far as costs, but she still thinks she wants it.
Right now she gets 160-180 Miles per tank on the road. And is still very fast.
Should I just tell her to wait and allow me to gather some more data or just allow them to do it and add to data base. (Her hubby is not happy with me) (more work for him)
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| If you are trying to please both the wife and the husband, rotsa ruck.
The more facts you give the more facts you will be held responsible for.
Just say, "Listen this is what I did. If you want to do the same, I'm not
responsible for how it affects your ride or milage."
Then the ball is in their court.
The formula for speed from readily available aftermarket parts for the Silverwing is:
Leo Vince 4road Exhaust, J. Costa Variator, Power Commander with custom map K&N Air filter.

| If my extrapolations are correct here is the data:
1 1/2 - 2 sets of tires = 12K to 16K miles a year (or lots of WOT starts) approx $130-150 a set.
160-180 mile range = 38 to 42 mpg (not so great the SW gets thirsty at higher speeds)
At that kind of yearly mileage expect to replace the JCosta roller bearings approx every 10K @ $100 (I think) |
