Hey guys...I just took a 350 mile day trip from Long Island, through the Catskills, up to Woodstock, NY. When I got home my center stand was gone! I do remember at one point hearing the slightest little clink noise, like a key chain dropping. At the time I wondered what that could be...hmmm. Where do I get a new one? Honda? Thanks dan

I'm not sure why this is in the "For Sale" section? I see that you have a 2002 model. There is a recall affecting the centerstand, but it is on the 2004 model: http://www.automotive.com/motorcycle-recalls/145/2004/honda/fsc600/69934.html I have used www.servicehonda.com in the past and have been very happy with their customer service and prices. I'll move this to a more appropriate topic area.

Hi Rider44. Holy catapult Batman......If that centerstand fell off while you were riding, I would think that your family would all be gathered around some lawyers desk arguing over who got the boat, and what kind of flowers to order for your funeral. Wow. Jeez 44, that's a big chunk of steel. Do you think that it could have been stolen? You know, there's just one bolt running through 'er. Well... glad your O.K. anyway, and hope you had a good trip.....despite your loss. Take care....Jeff.

I know! You would think it must have gone under the rear wheel...it's a mystery.

Mm - not good but I'm glad it didn't cause an accident. I guess it's something that needs checking periodically.

Yes. I know one shouldn't have to but is it possible to drill the bolt and slip in a split-pin?

Good call MikeO. A little safety wiring goes a long way. Could you imagine if that centerstand dropped off and under the rear wheel at 65mph????? Might not be able to save it. I like your quote from Edmund Burke, although I have just read some philosophical quotes from and about Buddhism. The idea that evil doesn't really exist, especially in nature. This quality seems to have been assigned to humans, like the guy that might have stolen Dan's centerstand. I wonder? Dan....did you check on the price from Honda? Good luck to ya....Jeff.

I guess it's something that needs checking periodically. Not sure why the bolts would get loose and to lose both of them ?? I do think in light of recent failures that it is reasonable to check it periodically. As it appears that the centerstand is held on with two bolts, do not forget to check both the LH and RH bolts. |

After reading the recall, http://www.automotive.com/motorcycle-recalls/145/2004/honda/fsc600/69934.html it seems the bolts are held on with locking nuts. Folks do check your centerstand soon and make that a regular item you check. It would be interesting to hear if any of you have loose bolts.
