| Stock mirrors leave some view to be desired----Big people or small/med like me dressed in cold weather gear end up looking at their arms....or after you move around a bit, the view of your/my Givi Box. Solution: Dennis Kirk #39-1523 and #39-1524 10" stems. Cheap $8.99. Similar to orginal mirrors on '69 CB750. Shake a little some times, but you can see who is trying to kill you from behind. I have used them on several bikes----a couple of winters of winter salt and the mirror starts to go. John Grinsel |

| Do you have to remove the windscreen to remove the stock mirrors? |

| Some people pick up Stock Honda REFLEX mirrors. They have quite a bit longer stem then the Silverwing type but are the same shape, and are otherwise identical. Here are the part numbers: 88210-KPB-003 MIRROR, R. 88220-KPB-003 MIRROR, L. --------------------------------------------------- Honda also makes mirror extenders but does not call their parts mirror extenders. They call them adapters, and they are actually made for the Reflex/Forza. However they fit the Silverwing too They move stock mirrors outward a bit, and upward too.
The part numbers for genuine Honda parts are:
Adapter; 88111-MCT-000 Lock nut; 90314-MB6-000
You will need one of each PER MIRROR. ------------------------------------------------------------- Kuryakyn part # 1445 is a converter from the 10mm Honda thread to the thread used for Harley Davidson. This allows you to use mirrors designed for HD on your Silverwing. |

| I made some out of 3/4inch scrap aluminum about 5 1/2 inch extension, cut them out on the table saw then drilled and tapped to accept original mirror stems. only have vibration on acceleration up to about 35 mph.Thinking about putting spacers under them to raise them about 3/4inch but haven't made any yet, still undecided. their shape was determined by the scrap which came off an old wheel chair picked up from the road side. Looks like they have spaces cut out for my knuckles to fit in. Before installing I might as well not have had any mirrors as all I could see were my shoulders. Craig |

| I guess I need to change my question.
How do you remove the stock mirrors without removing the windscreen When I tried I could not turn them to unscrew them without hitting the windscreen.
I only tried for a second, maybe I didn't see something obvious. |

| Loosen the nut and Turn your handlebars so you can turn the mirrors off. |

| I have a set of Reflex mirrors they have a little longer arm and they are the same style as the SW. I also have extenders that places the mirrors just above and to the right/left of the shoulder. I have the Clearview wind screen and the mirrors do not come in contact with the screen. A great combination. |

| I had Honda's own extenders fitted before I collected the bike from the dealer. They do the trick and blend in so they don't stand out. |

| I really don't mind the stock mirrors. Having part of my arm in view gives me a perspective of what's what behind me. Looks like I'm in a minority!!! |

Craig Craig, would you mind posting a picture of your extenders? |

How long is your extension?? Does your extension raise the mirror height at all or does it remain at the same height?? |

| Just a tad over 5 inches with somewhere about 3/4 in. added height as I said earlier I'm thinking of raising them a little more maybe another3/4 in or more. It will be just a matter of a longer mounting bolt and shim made from whatever I can scrounge up. Could also just pick up a couple of collars from the hardware store for spacers depending on diameter either brought or cut to length. I much prefer working with other peoples junk not only cause I'm cheep but I try too be creative and use things for something other than their intended use. It'll be awhile but when I finish with making my bracket to mount my hand-held 2meter transceiver I'll post some pictures, also the mount I made for my Givi top-box(aluminum angle) it's solid easy to make and I'll have a place for added brake light. Thanks for the pictures and the info! I'd been tossing around the idea of buying some, but now I think I'm just going to make my own. Pretty sure I've got an extra piece of bar aluminum around that will fit the bill... |
