Pat and I rode Skyline Drive yesterday and ended up in New Market at a Quality Inn for the night. We were on the GW only because it simply was it's turn to be ridden. When we arrived there was a burgandy SW that we parked next to with NJ plates. Tried several times to catch whomever was riding it but never did. Later they had a neat cover over it. Wonder if by chance it was anyone on this site. They were long gone by the time we were up and around. Probably trying to get some miles before it really got hot.
As a lot of you know we are in the middle of a heat wave here in the Mid-Atlantic region but up on the Drive it was pretty darn nice. Warm but nice.
We stopped at the Luray Zoo this morning (because Pat said so!) and found out all the animals housed there were animals in or were in distress. They take in exoctic animals have had misfortunes of some kind and the owners do not want them anymore. It was a real neat twist for a Zoo and I commend the owner for doing this. Dick

Hi Dick,

We rode up the BRP last year to skyline drive and up to Luray Caverns. In terms of beauty and great cool weather. It can't be beat! In Luray, we found this little B&B behind a hotel that happened to belong to the mayor of Luray, VA. I wish we had known about the zoo. I would have like to see it. Did you get a chance to go into the caverns? The organ is really neat.

ronjr009...We have been in the Luray Caverns several times but did not stop on this trip. I agree about the beauty of the area and what a relaxed ride on the drive.
Take care..Dick
