| Wife has just commented that she does not plan to ride with me unless the seat is more comfortable. We had the sheepskin pads for our trip to Colorado last year and she never complained. This may just be one of her phases (Men don't seem to have as many phases) .
Without getting into an ad campaign for any brand names. I want to ask if anyone has replaced the padding of the stock seat with another material. I really want a seat as soft as a car seat. Or my recliner at home. Is that possible? Are there reasons to avoid that? Help me out here guys, I need the little one to ride with me and I want her tiny hiny to be comfortable.
I have the time to do the mod while I am waiting for the Trike kit. |

| Gary,
I've found the following site to be a good reference when it comes to modifying seats:
http://www.diymotorcycleseat.com/
I haven't made any changes to my stock seat yet, but I did make my own passenger backrest for my SWing, and that site helped me decide which foams to use and find sources. |

| I have heard of people substituting temperpedic foam which molds to your body, and of course the corbin seats use a closed cell foam. Also any gel pad that is put on aftermarket can be placed under the stock covering. The problem is finding a way to give your wife a choice before you go thru the expense. Personally I hate temperpedic foam because when it molds to your body it also traps body heat. Dan |

| Gary,
I have the air-hawk that really helps on the long rides. Do you want the seat to be rebuilt with new foam or just sometype of pad to put on it? If I were to invest in the Trike kit I think I would also try to find a Corbin or Russell day long seat, and I may try one of those these days myself. The Corbin plant is only about 70 miles south and the Russell is about 250 miles north of me.
You might also just try talking to various upholsterer's in your area. (hope I spelled that right). They could probably do the entire seat for cheap. Good luck and keep us informed. (edited later) Gary, here is the link that I couldn't find when I posted the above response: http://greatdaytoride.com/FAQ.html He was written up in a m/c magazine and they gave him very high marks and he uses your seat that you have to send in. Just a thought. |

| Most people when they rate their seats, rate it from the driver's seat not the passenger's seat. Some seats may be comfortable for the driver and not as comfortable as the passenger.
Some seat material may brake down due to heat, usage or time.
I would suggest contacting one more more establish motorcycle seat designers to discuss your requirements ... I sure it will help provide some ideas, improvements and/or additional requirements without requiring purchasing.
If it were me I would start with Russel Day Long ( http://www.day-long.com/new_pages/honda.html ). The Russell Day long is built (without weight) to be 1.5 inches taller the OEM seat and is designed for full day usage which I thought would be the best for me and my passenger (thought I never purchased yet). |

| I'd also check a local upholstry shop. They may be able to help - look for a shop that does motorcycle seats. Easily done from the comfort of your favorite recliner. Seat comfort is so easy to describe isn't it? Of course comfortable to me is not necessarily comfortable to you... |

| Went to one and as I was on a scooter he showed no intrest in doing anything other than he said he would recover it for $175. He does Harley's for a lot of people. Craig |

| I'm about to recover the seat on my Reflex (dropping it off tomorrow). The sun just eats it up out here in Arizona. If I end up talking to someone who knows how to do it (as opposed to a receptionist or the like), I'll ask about what it would take to rebuild the seat instead of recovering it. It's similar enough to the Swing seat, so answer should be informative. |
