Now that it's very hot outside, I've looking at my DVD collection during the hot afternoon's. One of the movies that came to my attention was the screen production of The Old Man and The Sea, written by Ernest Hemingway with Spencer Tracy as the old Cuban fisherman. Spencer Tracy's performance in this film brought him his sixth of his nine Academy Awards. One out of so many wonderful scenes in this movie, toward the end, are two American tourist that walk into the small harbor caf'e, as they walk past the camera, in the background, sitting at one of the tables, a man raises his head, looks at the camera and smiles....It's Ernest Hemingway. One of just a very few times you will ever see him on film, let alone a movie created from his his novel, The Old Man and The Sea, a great movie worth seeing again and again.

My wife hates when I get hold of the tv remote. She can bet I will have an old B & W movie scheduled. Particular favourites of mine are the St Trinnian movies about a renagade school!!!!! There are hundreds, way too many to start mentioning.

Its Ernest, the only thing I ever catch is a cold. EH was a very successful big game fisherman. I believe he did well with many notable stars around Cairns in QLD. with the marlins and swordfish. I agree, a very good film. The novel was good too.

That guy in the background......looks like DennisB to me. Of course, I would say that if there were any similarities, DennisB looks to be about 40 years younger than Mr. Hemingway. Dang it....I may have to let my whiskers grow.......Sure got ShaniaB's attention....... " Dennis, this is Tom with MGM Studios, were doing a remake of Old Man and the Sea, and wondered if you could do a walk on in the restaurant scene......one week at the Marriott with limo..... two personal assistants......$150,000.00 plus two percent of the gross......and wait theres a note......Sochiro Honda's daughter would like to dine with you at nine in the Elite room." Dang it Dennis, some guys have all the luck. Jeff.
