I just got a 07 Swing 2 days ago and rode it in the dark for the first time tonight. The headlights went off and when I wiggle the starter button they came back on. This happened several times. Has anyone else run into or heard of this problem and/or a solution?

I have not had this problem, but the headlight is supposed to go off when you press the starter button to start the bike. If the bike sat for a while there might be a connection problem. Maybe someone else can give more information. There are some good people on this forum who will try to help.

Sounds like a loose connection in the starter switch. There is a connection that turns off the headlight when the switch is engaged. Could be in connection or the switch itself. I have never heard of this problem before. Good luck.

This a common problem with most bikes, The starter switch is the weak link. I have one on order for a friends 650 bergman right now.

Try opening the housing containing the switch (two phillips screws) and spraying WD 40 or such.
Most of the time it is mechanically binding, My friends parts are too far gone to just spray. Had to order the whole switch housing just for the switch inside. it cost $102.
That is why I carry a mini can Of WD40 with me on the road. I have done this on hondas suzi's, harleys, yamahas, and one bmw.
Hope this helps.
MaxB ( who has done this on a bunch of different bikes.)

Thanks for the help guys! MaxB, I will try your WD 40 suggestion. I've been riding Hondas for 46 years and have never run into this problem before.

I was an industrial electrician most of my life. What is inside the handlbar housing is a small microswitch. It has a very tiny spring inside that pushes the switch back after it has been released. it is very small (TINY) and with any type of dirt or wear in the switch or the lever in the housing, it will bind and not be able to push it back.

Be careful some are screwed into the housling and some have alligning pins to hold them when you put both halves of the housing back on the handlebars.

generic pic of switch. (second picture roed or green one)

hope this helps
