| A friend of mine previously had 2003 Silverwing, and he said that a Honda dealer employee told him to us a red fingernail polish for light touchups and told him the brand and color that matched, but he doesn't remember.
Has anyone heard of this and do you have a red fingernail polish that you think is a good match to the 03 Silverwing? |

| Funny you should post this... my scoot is a dark purple, so I can't help you. But the reason I'm piping up is because I had some scratches on the side of my Beast, and the white fiberglass was showing and made it look a lot worse than it was. I had some black fingernail polish left over from a few Halloweens ago and filled in the scratches with the black. It looked a gazillion times better. So I kept my eyes peeled for a purple to match the bike and lucked into a $1 bottle. The color match is really really close, but it's dull and doesn't have the sparkles that the original paint does. However, I'm really happy with it for $1! But I've wondered how long I can reasonably expect it to last? In my personal care experience, nail polish really only holds up a week or two at best. Obviously, I'm not using my scooter to open pop cans or scratch with..... Anyone know how long to expect this to hold up? I mean, no big deal if it needs more, since I still have 98 cents of my $1 investment left over! |

| Originally it was thought that Revlon 'Top Speed' Firecracker 480 red nailpolish was a good match for the '03 Candy Glory Red tupperware.
After 50,000 miles I can tell you that it is not. After the nailpolish color weathers it leaves the metal flakes sparking very noticeably.
The best match I've found so far is Dupli-Color's "NG FM 344 Toreador Red Met" "Fl Ford". I got it at Pep Boys or maybe Wal-Mart fot ~$5.00.
You might also try Testors "1104 Dark Red" "Rouge Fonce" paint. It comes in 1/4 oz bottles for painting model airplanes, etc. and is available at most Hobby Supply Stores. |

| Um, Tim, I sure hope you're using that stuff on your Swing and not your fingernails! My silver Swing's scratches and scrapes came with the bike... I've come to consider them to be battle scars. |

| Just picked up the Testors 1104 dark red. It's a little lighter shade, but looks better than the scratches. I'll try a little rubbing compound in a day or so and see what happens. |

| In the UK there's a retail chain called Halfords who sell automotive paint, spares, car radios, go-faster bits and all that. If you take in the colour-code for a particular vehicle, they can usually match it. Is there nowhere similar across the pond? |

| When I replaced and moved a cheap tax disc holder from the front fender to the chain guard on a previous bike it left a very small area where the gloss had been rubbed down to the fibre glass on a near side front fender mount.
I went to local Yamaha dealer to get touch up paint only to be told Yamaha do not provide touch up paint.
So I tried mixing one or two different reds, of touch up paint, I had collected but could not get a match.
I then had the idea of using some of my wife's nail varnish, especially as she had a few red / cherry red ones, and low and behold one of them was a near match with the gloss effect finish to boot.
Result VG & cost basically zero. |

| FYI .. I tried the color rite product a couple of year ago and was not pleased with the results. For the 03 Swing, it takes a base coat and then the red. I took the tubberware off the scooter and laid it flat as suggested. It still looked like crap when done. You may have better success than I did, just wanted to let you know that the nail polish might be something to try first.
