| In the past I've used Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic (non Energy Conserving) 10W-40 oil (gold cap). Back then I purchased a full case & so haven't had to repurchase oil for quite some time.
Now I've been unsuccessful in trying to locate the correct Mobil 1 oil as they seem to have changed packaging and ratings. The closest I seem to come is Mobil 1's "High Mileage" synthetic which is API rated at SL, CL. However the package doesn't state what additives may be there to differentiate the High Mileage stuff from the regular synthetic oil. So now I don't know it that's the right stuff for me.
Can anyone tell me which Mobil 1 oil is the one for our engine? Thanks

| I too use Mobil 1 High mileage. It has a higher phosphorus content for wear. (I saw it on their site somewhere)

I don't recall seeing the "MX4T' stuff at any of the Wal-Mart or Pep Boys places I've been at. Is that stuff 'non energy conserving', or maybe have some other designation (e.g. High Mileage, etc)? I did find some 15W-50 which, otherwise, seems to have the right designation. However I'm not too sure if the weight might be too high. The "High Mileage" Mobil 1 says it for 75,000 mile & above, but I only have 50,000 on my '03. Tim |

| I routinely buy Mobile 1 MX4T at either AutoZone or Wal-mart, depending on which one I am closer to. I've never had trouble finding it. The 15W-50 is for the v-twins, I beleive. Motorcycle oil is usually off to one side, not necessarily right in with the Auto oils. |

| Tim, it's probably cos the MX4T was renamed Mobil 1 Racing 4T (http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Oils/Motorcycle_Oil_FAQs.aspx#FAQs8 look at the bottom). I too can't find non-energy conserving 10W30 of any flavor anymore (for cars anyway) at my local Wal-Mart and Pep Boys. Then again, I've just been using the Shell Rotella since I can find that almost anywhere. Maybe you and I could look at buying a barrel of something, hahaha... |
