Dale thanks for the welcome.
About the saddle bag mounts. I had some soft bags and I really didn't care for them so I began researching hard bag mounts. Givi only makes one for the right side and after looking at it it didn't seem to difficult to make a set to fit the wing.
So I bought the cheapest set of Givi mounts I could find which turned out to be for a V-Strom. After they arrived and some time deciding where, how and the best looking place for them I started the modification. It really was a lot easier than I thought. A little heat, some bending, cutting and welding and they were done. They mount in four places. I tapped two 8mm holes under the bottom of the wing "holes were all ready there, just not threaded" which gave me a starting place. Following that I made the bracket that attaches the right side to the muffler mount. I had to buy a 10mm longer bolt but that was the only purchase i made. The left side was more diffcult but I ended up fabbing a mount that attaches under the foot rest plate. They can be removed by taking off 4 bolts so they're pretty easy to remove.
Not being able to leave well enough alone, I didn't care for the original black color against the swing. I order matching paint from color rite and sprayed to match, which I do think looks much better. Then I sprayed the large cases to match my top case, one is complete with the silver band and the right side just needs the silver band done.
If you look close you can see the foot rests I made that mount to passenger footrest bracket. They're very nice for putting your feet in a back position if you need a change.
I do need to put my 2 cents in on the seat question. I have the Russell Day Long seat and it's the just the greatest seat out there. Extremally comfortable and I wouldn't have any other seat after riding on this one. The original seat was uncomfortable for me with in an hour or less. but with the Russell I can ride as long as I want. I don't know if being 6' 4" has anything to do with it. The heat is nice on cold days.
