| today was the first day I drove my new (to me anyhow) SWing to work. First scooter I have had, and am happy with her. Only issue was the wind noise was very loud. I tried lowering my head and getting a bit closer to the fairing and it all went away. Guess its time for me to find my first replacement part.
Didn't see a single bike on the highway. Shouldnt be too long before I see more out and about. |

| According to his intro, Shorin is from Arizona. His idea of good riding weather and yours might be a wee bit different. Like ice cubes and hot coffee. |

| yes, sorry, Arizona. It was just above freezing on the ride home tonight. Winter gloves didnt really do as much as I had hoped. Will be wearing more clothes for tomorrow nights ride, for sure!
Man that headlight is pointed WAAAYYY low. I saw a post where you can stick a skinny screw driver into some hole and adjust the lights up a bit, I really have to find that. The high beams are great, but I would really hate to run into a javalina or coyote. Almost ran over a big cougar the other night in my mini, that car has great brakes!

| Re wind noise issue.
Even when I test drove the SW I had the same problem.
I tolerated the stock screen for a while but as dealer had told me that one or two SW owners had tried the tall Givi touring screen and found it worse I decided to invest in a Givi AF 214 adjustable screen and find it is well worth the expense (it is expensive) but I enjoy the SW so much more now.
The AF 214 does not suit everyone, I know, but overall it seems to be very well liked.

| Glad your first impressions are favorable.
The wind noise is a niggle, but only that. Look at the various threads about replacement screens, worth getting other folks views before committing to the cost. I use the Give AF214, overall, much better in my opinion to the stock screen but for me it does have counter effects.
Noise is reduced but I have found it created a cold spot at the rear of my helmet. Corrected by a thin layer over under my helmet. |

| Welcome to the site. Glad you like your scoot.
Re: the windshield - I have used a GIVI shield (not the adjustable shield) full height, cut down two inches, with a Laminar Lip, and used the stock shield with the Laminar Lip. At 6' tall, I prefer the GIVI with LL for cold weather and the stock shield with LL for warmer weather. I have not tried the new, two-piece shield.
Re: the light - I noticed how low the light is as well. If you lay on the floor, looking up into the front of the bike (behind the headlight), you should be able to see a nut with a washer that looks like a gear. This is the one that raises/lowers the headlight. Park the bike pointed at a wall, turn the light on and put a piece of tape on the wall where the headlight cuts off. Then turn the nut and you will see the light adjust. Sorry, can't remember which way adjusts upwards. Once adjusted, the headlight is very good. Since I adjusted my light, I have never had anyone flash me, so I assume it is not too bright.
There is another nut at the top of the headlight that moves it side-to-side, but I have not had to adjust it.
If you use the search function, you may find past postings with better instructions and a picture from the service manual of the back of the light.

| thanks for the info all. unfortunately, i am one to jump the gun with a hair trigger, already bought a new givi screen, but its the one piece 26 inch D214. anyone know how tall the stock one is? i would measure it but dont know what it is measured on, screen that shows or including the part you cant see? anyhow, i figure if this 26 incher is about 3 inches taller than stock i should be good to go. i also like the little wings to deflect the wind from my hands.
first tank i was torqued with 41mph, this second tank i got 48. got a k&n on the way, will see if that helps any. |

| From looking at previous posts on fuel mileage, I would say if you got 48mpg in the winter you are close to the top of expectations. A larger windscreen with a stronger tailwind will increase your mileage, but I prefer to measure grins per mile and my Silverwing really scores in that department. The main thing to do is enjoy the ride as many of us aren't doing a lot of that at this time. Check back with us in the middle of August. |

| Shorin,
I've got a standard screen fitted at the moment and it measures approx 20 and 1/4 inches from top to bottom so your replacement screen should be an improvement in the wind blast. |
