| Has anyone who has original black SW leg deflectors fitted to their machine noticed anything odd about the colour? Looking at the machine from the side with the body panels as a backdrop they definitely appear to be black but when looking through them while sitting on the bike in bright conditions it can clearly be seen they take on a degree of transparency and are decidedly brown! I've bought this to the attention of my dealer for comments and will post the response in due course. Good sccoting everyone! Brian |

| I believe its intentional.
More a smoked brown plastic rather than solid black in colour!! |

| I concur with Doug - smoked plastic. They do the job, though. |

| Yes they are smoked tinted see-thru. It is not unusual, however, for people to paint them to match the bike.

| I think I will make use of my tartan picnic blanket instead of fitting the deflectors |

| I like my wind deflectors and had them fitted from new, they work, and I much prefer them to the ones I had on my 650 Burgman. |

| I'd love to have them, but simply refuse to pay the stupid amount of money Honda wants for them - Anybody got a pair I can borrow to use to take a moulding of them and then I could make them in fibre glass at one tenth the price.................. |

How efficient are they? Do they contribute to wind noise? Never, (as yet), seen the need for them but TBH never really looked at them as a mod. Surely a deflector of a light alloy would work equally as well and be more durable and cheaper to produce!! |

| They create an area of still air; mine hadn't arrived when I collected my Silverwing for the first time so I had them fitted at the first service. Until that time my trouser-legs flapped at speed; when the shields were fitted, the flapping disappeared completely.
On my epic (for me) journeys to and from the RTTW in persistant, torrential rain, my feet and lower-legs remained quite dry.
Yes, they are expensive but the expense was worth it to me. They also add 'presence' to the front view of the bike.
I suspect they are made of plastic partly so that in the event of a spill they will break (off) and not damage the other panels. |

| If you want to supplement the weather protection on the SW I'd say fitting the leg deflectors are the way to go. If you don't want to pay the price, do without, find an alternative like an apron, or maybe look on the net for a used SW in a dealers with wind deflectors already fitted, call them up and make an offer for them.

WHAT HE SAID???????? I ordered a set from David Silver Spares. A bit on the pricey side but well worth the cost and shipping for the results achieved. The package comes with multi lingual instructions, a paper template to mark and drill two holes per side for nylon push rivets and pre installed double-sided tape. On 5/6/10 the total price was 107.16 USD that includes 28.16 in UPS shipping charges from the UK to Southwestern Pa.. http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/FJS600D6-SILVERWING-2006/part_113593/ |

| I went out to the garage and snapped a few quick shots of the wind deflectors with the phone. Take a gander in the album section under my handle. |
