| Subject: LOW RPMS ON MY 04 SWING Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:21 am | |
| Guys Need some help here. On my 04 swing at times the rpms go down to about 3 to 5 k rpms and it has done this several times. I have tried using other gas. But still does this. When it does this i hit the throttle some and sometimes that helps. BUT then sometimes it does not. Like yewterday morning i tried to start the swing but it did not want to start. I saw that the reserve light was on si added fuel. and that started the bike. BUT the rpms were very low for a couple of minutes. So then i gave it the throttle and that took care of it. But why does the rpms go so low?? i will be back in 3 days to read ny rsponses. thanks Ghost rider G

| Greg, Do you think you have a clogged fuel filter or something? Hopefully others here will have some helpful hints on this problem. |

| I gather this happens while you are out riding your S'wing. Just some ideas that I would have a look at: You may have picked up some dodgy fuel somewhere, firstly,I would look at cleaning the injectors with some specific cleaning agent in the fuel. Be careful, dont use too much. A vacuum guage check could pick up other problems like sticky valves. The fuel filter may be clogged as well, so do a fuel pressure check before and after the filter. You should be able to buy the necessary tuning equipment at your local accessory store, or borrow them from someone who has them. Sorry, mine are out on loan already. It could also be running rich... check your sparkplugs for carbon, and restrictions in the exhaust. If $$$$ permit, upgrade your plugs to iridium ones. They cost more, but foul up less. |

| Check the battery voltage. My 04 did the same thing till I bought a new battery. |

| Guys thanks for your advice on my swings rpms running about 500 rpms. That was every now and thenand i did go buy some stp fuel injector cleaner and i put it in.. The only times the rpms would run that low were when i first started the bike up.. I will let you know if the problem continues. I asm thinking it maybe trash in the fuel cuz even my honda lawnmower acts funny. Yeah won't start at times for a month. But then sometimes it will fire right up and run well for a few days.. THANK YOU for your advice Ghost rider Greg 04 silverwing 28.600 miles on it Houston tx usa |

| I have only ridden the bike 2 times this week and it still does the low rpm thing. BUT not as bad as it was. I did put the fuel injector cleaner in last week and still have about 1/4 tank left. Should i put more stp fuel injector cleaner in the next tank of gas??? Ghost Rider Greg |
