Hi Jon,

Have been perusing your avatar art and trying to figure out what it might be (in my own non-art mind). Here are my observations; let me know how far off I am, okay?

Looks like a southwest desert scene.
The "orangee" face of a cowboy with dark eyes under a hat brim.
Dark, wide mustache just below the nose (of course).
Yellow, wide jaw and mouth.
All of this superimposed over a high desert escarpment of some sort with blue sky behind.
A desert floor with yucca and scrub brush in the foreground.

Well, I guess that's about it. I'd better sign off before wind up being embarrassingly wrong. But was just curious.

It's title is Goulding's Ghost. It is the title piece of my web site. It started life as a sunrise/sunset in the Monument Valley. I had painted the same scene at different times of day several times. This time the scene took on a life of it's own. I left it when it told me it was done. Thence, the title. You were very close to the actual thing.

Thank you for noticing it. Have a look at more of my stuff on
