Seat Latch Issue Empty
PostSubject: Seat Latch Issue   Seat Latch Issue I_icon_minitimeFri May 20, 2011 1:42 pm

I am loving my Swing SOOOO Much!

The only issue I am having right now is a lot of the time, when I try to open my seat storage, when I turn the key it won't unlatch.

Usually if it happens, on the second turn it will pop open. I make sure that every time I close it, I hear the seat click closed.

Also, if I hold the key over when it doesn't click, I can manually lift the seat and it will sometimes open.

I am not sure if it is the spring release, the seat cable, or maybe the hydraulic seat lifter. I have the service manual but there is nothing in the manual that describes maintenance or repair of this area.

What do you guys think? I don't want to go pulling apart tupperware if it's unnecessary.

Thanks so much,
Billy

I had the same issues at the beginning, closing the seat takes some learning.
When you close the seat, place the palm of your hand on the passenger's back rest and your fingers on the aluminium rack "lip"; then clamp (closing your hand) and push down. This is mainly useful during the winter, but you can spray some silicone lubricant in the latch and that will help too.

Sometimes, I have had a problem when the trunk is so full, that when I turn the key, the foremost seat latch does not unlock, only the rear one. A bit of an annoyance until I get it to unlock after two or three lock-unlock tries.

Billy,

There are two latches on the SW seat. One at the very back, and another in the middle, under the rider portion of the seat. Next time that happens, leave the key turned to unlock, and push down hard on the middle of the rider seat, just forward of the backrest. You will likely hear the latch release, and then the seat will open.
