| I just received my new issue of Rider magazine, and lo and behold, there is a full review of the Burgman 650 Executive. There is also considerable mention of scooters on the Editor's page. In short, they talk about the capability of Maxi Scooters for touring... a focus of the magazine, as well as the very real surge in Scooter sales. Interesting reading if you can get a copy. |

| Written by in-experienced tester----No mention of buffeting( all maxi scooters are bothered by this) Then....with greater price is it better or as good as Silverwing?
Gas mileage not in same league as SilverWing.
Nice to see some interest in scooters in bike magazines. Would nice to see some new developments in the 250 cc and over market----like auto adj valves, easy to remove plastic. |

| I am curious to understand how John defines 'inexperienced tester'. The person doing the evaluation is Greg Drevenstedt, and is one of their most experienced testers, usually doing at least one bike test per issue. He also did a nice article in June 2010 about a 4 day trip through Thailand on a scooter, a Tmax if I recall correctly. In this same issue he does a tour test of the 2011 Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS. He does a lot of testing of so called Sport Tourers, so for him to do a test of a Maxi scooter should give a pretty good comparison to this type of bike. In the review, besides specifics of the Burgman, he talkes about the fun factor and utility of scooters in general. That is very good press for us scooter enthusiasts from a well respected touring motorcycle magazine. This is good. While I am typing, in the intro post for this thread I neglected to mention that the editorial page also mentions that BMW is looking to introduce 'a production twin cylinder C (for Commuter) scooter' in Europe next year in two gasoline powered versions. This could be interesting too. |

Simple answer - 'inexperienced tester' = anyone who does not have a disdain for the south, bathrooms in TN, less than 200,000 miles on rubber bands and who's initials are not J.G. |

| I see the do gooders are editing my comments-----just sent comments on in-exxperienced tester and it didn't post.
I am all for scooters---but US Bike mags are not very critical...and should be.
John Grinsel Add bad fast food to dislike of TN.
