| Pretty new to two wheels so 130 is plenty fast enough for me. I noticed that it ran really smooth up to 120 but when accelerating hard from 120 to 130, engine tone changed and got quite loud, much more so than under hard accelration at lower speed - almost a "hammering" sound. The GIVI Airflow was excellent at that speed. |

| Was that 130 speedo reading or GPS? Speedo 130 is about 117 actual.
Mine cruised all day on the French autoroutes at 130 kph actual, scooter and rider loved it!

| Thanks, I know it will go that fast, just that I'm not inclined to go that fast on the QEW into Toronto - Not quite at the age I feel like ending it all You have to have driven it or the 401 lately to know what I mean - there are truly some insane drivers on these roads. Also they have a nifty law here in Ontario - 50 K over the limit - (in this case 150 KPH) and bye bye Swing (confiscated on the spot, no arguments) at least for a while plus a truly massive fine not to mention tripling or better of insurance premiums. - bigbird wrote:

Lots to go still.
Do you know your Swing will make it to 170 km/hr true speed?

| Exactly. - Here's the info from Ontario Motor Vehicles: "Penalties for street racing, stunt driving and driving 50 km/h or over the speed limit Pre-conviction – Immediate 7-day licence suspension and 7-day vehicle impoundment Upon conviction - $2,000 to $10,000 fine, 6 demerit points, up to 6 months jail, up to 2 years licence suspension for a first conviction Second offence – Driver licence suspension up to 10 years within 10 years of first conviction" They put this in place a couple of years ago after several deaths attributed to street racing - bigbird wrote:

Ouch. Definitely not worth it. |

| I've had my SWing up to 105 indicated, and it felt like it could have made it to 110 if I hadn't run out of straight empty road. Of course, I did this exactly once. The bike was really smooth at speed - felt solid as a rock. In fact, this causes me a problem. When I'm on the freeway I have to keep a very close eye on the speedo or I discover that I'm going much faster than I thought. A few years ago I was going up hwy 280 in the SF bay area, which is extremely smooth and long lazy curves. Speed limit is 65, but most people do 75-80. I thought that's what I was doing. It wasn't. When the motorcycle cop pulled me over (that's right, it had to be a motorcycle cop) he showed me the read out on his radar gun and it said 93. I was floored, and have paid much closer attention since then. He liked the bike, smiled a bit, shook his head a few times, and wrote me a ticket for 80. Because of his kindness the ticket only cost me around $250. I think that he wouldn't have been so kind if I had been riding a rice rocket. As it was I think he was impressed. Still wrote me up, but impressed. |

| Maybe an idea if posters indicate whether they are talking miles per hour or kilometres per hour, also if a speedo reading or other means (GPS, speedo healer fitted, etc) .
Just in case some people weren't aware. French Autoroutes have a speed limit of 130 kph unless otherwise signposted or conditions are wet or damp, then it goes down to 110 kph.
(130kph is roughly 80mph).
Cheers,

| I routinely travel long flat straight distances of nothing but desert between El Paso, TX and Tempe, AZ. On one of the first such trips I wanted to see what the bike would do and got up to 110 mph indicated which is within 5 mph of what my GPS says. After having added a K&N air filter and Dr. Pulley sliders I thought I should see what she would do now. On my last trip I went 115 mph indicated and it had plenty more to give. I was just keenly aware that if I went down at that speed they'd be picking me up with an eye dropper.

One and a quarter? You mean one quarter, correct? A football field is 300 feet. :flower: |

| I chose the 26gr Dr. Pulley sliders as I thought that would best find a happy medium. Lighter roller weights = faster take-off acceleration, lower top speed. Heavier roller weights = slower take-off acceleration, higher top speed. As I recall, the Silverwing can use between 22 and 28 gr.

| From TWJ74 I am an old gold Wing guy and decided that I should down size because my Gold wing was getting to be too much for me weight wise,I downsized to a Silver Wing which I find very suitable, I love the zippyness of it and find it a hoot to ride .Not having ridden a scooter before I am hearing noises and I wonder if they are normal,it makes a noise that sounds different when accelerateing than the noise it makes decelerateing, when riding at a constant speed there is no noticable noise, also when accelerating from a stop there is a buzzing like vibration that goes through the seat,is that the belt drive? Are these noises normal? the swing is a 2010 with 1870 miles on it,do I have anything to worry about? |

| My only observation about going that fast, besides the obvious, is the rear tire wear; they don't go far to begin with, and going that fast really accelerates the wear, especially if it's hot outside. |

| You can easily cruise at 130kph or 80mph with a passenger and loaded with luggage and still have the ability to overtake when necessary without the Dr Pulley bits. After reading numerous posts on this topic I'm still of the opinion it's not worth doing. |

| 80mph is fast enough in the UK, 70mph showing on speedo, allow 10% speedo error + 3mph leeway, gives about 80 mph showing on the speedo, that speed should not set off any dual carriageway or motorway camera's. Best to check speedo with satnav, but most bike speedo's read fast. Of course on my little 125 swing, if I get zapped at 70mph, I will frame the paperwork. |

| It depends where you live as some parts of the UK are camera happy, I'll see more fixed cameras in Lancashire within a couple of miles of getting off the M6 than there is in the counties of Cumbria, North Yorkshire, and County Durham combined. |

| I have the 26gr Dr. Pulley sliders and they really improve take-off from a standstill, both smoother and quicker. I recently started using Ride-on tire seal/balancer in both my front and rear tire and I can tell you that it smooths the bike out so much at speed that I have often caught myself doing 90mph (indicated) when I though I was doing 70.
