| What company were you with that increased that much? Shouldn't have been impacted by one model of a bike... |

| Pays to insurance shop----My SilverWing insured for around $180 a year US---please note rates for me now stuck in south were less in WI----have to be real careful, my NT700V, rated here as sports touring, when it is just a not too powerful bike is near $400.
Certain companies really stick it to you, USAA goes to Progressive for their ins and the rates are in the $800 range for scooter. Allstate quoted reasonable rates, I have been with Geico. Good luck to trying to find reasonable priced coverage. |

| I've found it useful to go to an Ins Broker who sells the insurance of many diff companies and have them do the shopping. It worked for me and saved some serious money. They do the work because they want your business and therefore the commision.
I've also found that once a company has your business, they gradually increase the premiums and many of us let it go, thinking thats normal inflation. Its a pain, but ya gotta keep an eye on them. |

My father-in-law is an independent insurance salesman. He directs us to the lowest cost/best coverage. I have the same insurance coverage on my Burgman 400 as on my cars and the cost is @$125 per year. One of my daughters worked for State Farm. They kept wanting her to sell insurance and she wouldn't. Their prices were too high. My point is that it pays to shop around. An independent insurance salesman can shop around to get you the best deal. Usually, at far less than a salesman who can only offer you one product. Chris |

| I agree with "Daboo"... shopping around is the best policy. I've been with the "big name" groups before and got treated none to good. By the time I bought my SWing (even as a 'new' rider having taken the rider's safety course) I was back with a small town outfit who got me complete coverage for $132 per year (actually $118 due to 'quick' payment policy). So... I'm happy. |

| Even in the UK loyalty gets you nothing but increased premiums as the companies take you for granted. New customers always get a better deal the first year and then get screwed the next time; shopping around on the 'net and negotiation is the answer especially as a lot of the 'brokers' actually belong to the insurance companies !!! |

| I agree with many of these responses. In three plus years of riding, I have been with three insurance companies -- Aegis, Geico and Progressive (via USAA). When one of them doubled my premium at renewal time, I shopped and ended up paying less at renewal than for my expiring insurance policy. I spent a few moments wondering what exactly a "mature rider discount" meant, and decided it simply meant a lower rate and nothing more. USAA has provided my home and auto insurance since the 1980s, so the idea of shopping insurance seemed very unusual to me. Not any more. All three of the insurance companies mentioned above were fine, quality operations, and I would go back to any of them. I won't spend any time taking the higher renewal rates personally; it's business, nothing more, nothing less. |

| So bizarre- I with progressive am paying $190 per year for my Silver Wing and my Reflex together, liability only with $10 roadside assistance per cycle. This is with $25k/$50k coverage in Georgia. |
