| John, Forgive me, I'm too lazy to look - how many miles on your bike? Is it possible that the clutch / variator needs a good cleaning? |

| I'm really leaning toward the variator needing a good cleaning. Those belts do have a bit of a slap in the stock configuration. Maybe it's time to install a J. Costa? I'm hoping some of the vastly more informed members of this forum will chime in here. I've really got no more clue than what I've offered . |

Which belt did you use?? The OEM belt tends to "slap". I had the "slap" for a little while with the OEM belt. When I replaced my belt with a Mitsuboshi Kevlar Belt from http://www.scootertrap.com/SilverWing600.htm, I have not had any belt "slap" with the Mitsuboshi. |

| Thanks for the feed back the belt used was a standard honda belt, dont know if everything else was cleaned at the time of changing. So next question is how easy are these things to take apart and clean??? john |

Easy to remove and clean ... just a bunch of screws. If you are going to check the variator weights, then you will need a variator tool to hold the variator. Some people make their own tool, but I heard of one person cracking their pulley ... so I purchase the Honda tool. I also read that some people after cleaning the belt area used a dry lubricant (like graphite) in the top and bottom of the housing area where the belt scuff marks appear to reduce the slap. I do not recall any post reviews/results of the dry lubricant technique. |

| My last crash I did head-butt-head-butt-post-----hospital but no broken bones :D all internal bruising . Or you can get up enough speed to skim off the surface like a pebble skimmimg the waves(only recommend this style in open country with no posts or walls also change butt cheeks when sliding as may get hot... john |

| Nah John... that water skimming trick doesn't work at all. I'm still pickn' out grass from places where I didn't even know I had places. Your friendly U-boat Commander... |
