| Bathrooms in south and TN remain dirty, fast food seems to be made to lower standard, building standards lax. But no snow yet. How about drivers? Some of the worst in NA---directional lights seem to be option. Pretty hard to defend stuff that really is. |

Hatred is definitely the wrong word. I associate TN with John Grinsel. I think he's very entertaining, and he has lots of miles under his belt. He does speak from experience, and experience is one of the best teachers there is. - john grinsel wrote:

Not certain that a single individuals opinion can be viewed as fact. In spite of experience with a scoot or bike and a penchant for inspecting restrooms, not wearing underwear, and eating fast food - I view "jg's " opinionated and fratured posts with amusement. His hatred of TN and the south in general is not so much tolerated as taken with a grain of salt - oh heck sometimes a full shaker is necessary. Consider the source. The mens restroom in the Goodwill store in Hermitage, TN is clean. FYI - I-75 runs north from Chattanooga to Michigan (home of the most awesome restrooms and fastfood in all the earth) all the way to to the Canadian border. And hey, welcome to the forum - enjoy the ride. |

| Everyone loves to take his insults with "a grain of salt." Don't you find it a lot easier when you're not the one being insulted?
His miles have failed to make him any wiser. They just seem to have made him bitter and more out of touch. |

| When people go on the defensive, defending an area such as TN or the south.....there must be something wrong about the place/area. I just state the facts as they are. |

So 'Pride' doesn't figure too highly on your agenda John. I tend to be defensive if some one bad mouths something I am proud of. You see that as 'wrong,' your word not mine. |

To paraphrase "Being on the defensive about and defending your opinions .... must be something wrong with your opinions." Calling an opinion a fact doesn't make it a fact. SWingNut, I live just to the south of you and am glad you're a member. |

| Every time I go to Tennessee Something fun happens. Last time I was there it was the Honda Hoot, and I got a new cruise control installed.
Went to Dollywood
Gatlinberg Nightlife was fun.
Where would country music be without Tennessee?
Where would Miley Cyrus have been born?
Where would Taylor Swift have Gotten her start?
Tennessee has a lot to offer: Good people, good music, good attactions, etc.
You don't like TN... fine... just leaves more of it for me to enjoy.

| Hey, y'all, quit pickin on ole JG. He still lives there, right?
If it were as bad as he would have us believe, he would be back in Japan or Germany or somewhere else that he could complain about.
I've never been in TN (not even close, now that I mention it), but public restrooms have never been one of my favorite places, fast food is fast food, no matter where you are, ....
I do remember public restrooms in Germany that had resident cleaning ladies on duty. The public urinals on the streets of Paris were something that you wanted to stay upwind of. And finally, the "behind a bush" public facilities on the King Ranch in the beautiful country of Texas.

| I'm making comments about a bitter old coot, and he's defending himself, so there must be something wrong with him right? That's the logic I'm dealing with?
What am I defending, the quality of fast food? Spend more than a dollar on your food old man, maybe you'll find something worth eating. I thought the appeal of fast food is it tastes exactly the same no matter where you are.... to me it tastes like crap.
Tennessee is amazing. The climate is wonderful, the people are as nice as anywhere. The food in local restaurants is great. The drivers are as good as anywhere. The facilities are as nice if not nicer than anywhere I have been.
Where have I been? I was born in New York, raised in Washington DC. went to college in South Dakota and Alabama, worked in Kansas and Oklahoma, traveled for work in China, Taiwan, India, Australia and just about every state in the US.
Everywhere I go, people are pretty much the same. They're trying their best. Everywhere people make mistakes, everywhere people talk on cell phones when driving. (In Asia they really like to watch TV while driving.)
I've been around, and I know when I hear a grumpy old man who's getting too old to deal with the normal happenings on the road. So take your frustrations and your comments about the place and people where I live and cram them where the sun doesn't shine. |

| Gee its nice living in OZ, we only have 6 states and 2 territories AND NZ to worry about.
By the way it is really starting to get hot now 30 C + today. Lucky the days are getting shorter again.
Heres the lyrics to a GREAT Southern song.
There was a red-back on the toilet seat When I was there last night, I didn’t see him in the dark, But boy! I felt his bite! I jumped high up into the air, And when I hit the ground, That crafty red-back spider Was nowhere to be found.
I rushed in to the missus, Told her just where I’d been bit, She grabbed the cut throat razor blade, And I nearly took a fit. I said, “Just forget what’s on your mind, And call a doctor please, ‘Cause I’ve got a feeling that your cure Is worse than the disease.”
There was a red-back on the toilet seat When I was there last night, I didn’t see him in the dark, But boy! I felt his bite! And now I’m here in hospital, A sad and sorry plight, And I curse that red-back spider On the toilet seat last night.
I can’t lay down, I can’t sit up, And I don’t know what to do, And all the nurses think it’s funny, But that’s not my point of view. I tell you it’s embarrassing, And that’s to say the least That I’m too sick to eat a bite, While that spider had a feast!
And when I get back home again, I tell you what I’ll do, I’ll make that red-back suffer For the pain I’m going through. I’ve had so many needles That I’m looking like a sieve, And I promise you that spider Hasn’t very long to live!
There was a red-back on the toilet seat When I was there last night, I didn’t see him in the dark, But boy! I felt his bite! And now I’m here in hospital, A sad and sorry plight, And I curse that red-back spider On the toilet seat last night.
PS: USA: Redback is the same family as Black Widow UK: "Redback" is a brand of ozzie wheat beer and it needs to be sipped icy cold! |

| Yeah, Pancho, but the stile over the 6 foot fence makes one wonder why the fence is so high and difficult to get over if you REALLY need to (why else would you go looking for a BUSH anywhere). Add to that, maybe Gunner Dick and his friends might be shooting birds in the area. |
