PostSubject: Performance figures   Performance figures I_icon_minitimeWed Jan 18, 2012 2:18 am

Hello everybody

I am really enjoying my new purchase and everyone that sees my SW is very complimentary.

One of my friends noted the speedometer rated at 200kph and asked what the rated performance is at 40kph, 60kph, 100kph and 120kph (how much time it will take to get to the speed indicated here) from a standing start. Of course I could not answer him and could not find these figures when I searched the web. I am hoping that somebody on the forum will have these figures.

Thanks for then great forum.

No idea and to be honest not something that is of interest. As with all things mechanical the figures will differ from machine to machine and bear no resemblance to factory stated stats anyway!!!

I beat cars off the mark from a standing start and thats all I need to know. My head is looking at the road and traffic and not wondering what rpm I am doing at what speed. Smile

Hello Doug

Thanks for your reply.

That is exactly what I had told my friend, I am watching the road and the traffic, not the speedometer.

Kevin, in my experience the folk, (riders,) who are fixated on performance figures are not riders as such, more figure freaks who get a buzz out of the 'my bikes bigger and better then yours' fraternity. Stats can prove anything you want them to. The reality is the riding.

Take Formula 1, you can have a superior car like the Ferrari, which on paper should win every race, stick an inferior driver, (Massa,) in it and it will never win!!! Just an example, and my way of saying Massa is a useless driver Twisted Evil . So the actual figures are irrelevant.

Because rider and gear weight is such a high percentage of the overall weight of what the bike has to move, it will have a more significant impact on a bike's performance than it would a car I think.

I agree the swing feels pretty dang quick and im usualy well ahead of cars off the light. stats cant tell you how the bike feels when you hit a corner perfect or how it feels cruising down the road with the sun shining and the wind blowing and all the girlies calling your name lol. ive had a lot of enjoyment on all my bikes from my little xr80 to the 2006 swing i have now as long as im on 2 wheels im happy. keep on riding and keep the dirty side down.

I get about 200 gpm (grins per mile). More in the Spring--less in the Winter. Laughing
