| I wish to install SMALL Grip Puppies plus SMALL WristRest (left and right grips) plus HONDA Vista Cruise on my stock SWing. I plan to slide the right grip over about 1/4 inch to make room for Vista Cruise (while adding necessary washer at bar end to take of the space) and then cut some off the Grip Puppies to make room for the WristRest. Will all of this fit on my bar OK? Will there be enough room for my hand? I am hoping this combo will give me less vibration, give me a chance to take my hand off the grip once in a while, and be easier on my wrist when operating the throttle - correct? If not, any suggestions for achieving my objectives? Thanks. |

Install order - Vista Cruise I have the Brakeaway Cruise control ... which I would guess would be the same size. - Grip Puppies I also have Grip Puppies on both sides Cut to size ... I even have my Grip Puppies extending to the edge of my Manic Salamander Dragonfly bar-end weight. There is no reason you need to stop the Grip Puppies on the inside of the OEM bar-end weights ... why not cover them too ... more usable bar width. - Wrist Rest My WristRest are on top of the Grip Puppies. The WristRest has never moved or slide while pushing down. - Dimond wrote:

I removed both my hands once and decelerated ... I will never do that again due to the handlebar flapping. I always keep at least one one (even if it is lightly) on the handlebar at all times.[/quote] I relax my hands one at a time as needed.

| Thanks guys for the information I needed to get started. I plan to start with the VistaCruise (plan to use it VERY sparingly - just for a quick rest) and, when my budget permits, upgrade to the Breakaway (then I can have longer rests with a bit more safety). |

| https://www.silverwing600.com/t4531-grip-removal#41749Dimond, I went ahead and put this picture of how I removed my grips. It is very easy and only takes about 1 min when I did it. They come off very easy. If you have any questions just get back to me. If you already have an easy method to remove grips than forget this post of mine. And if it is different please share it with us. Thanks. |

| My take first you need or should want right grip to operate smoothly.
So I would start by removing right grip---cut/WD40 depending if you want to save grip.
For Vista Cruise or NEP....both are cheap, grip needs to be moved so alignment is exactly straight for smooth action. Where control fits between throttle cables file to fit. I have drilled small hole and safety wired control to throttle cables---straight/smooth action is what you want, no free play.
Cut grip where it overlaps bar end.
My experience---wrist rests waste of money---can get in way of real control of bike. And hurt heel of hand after long 500mile day.
Throttle stops are very handy for picking nose, etc. Can even be fun(to relieve bordom on long straight no trafficed roads) Dangerous as hell in heavy traffic. Need to be set up so you can back off throttle by turning grip or flipping lever.
Grip puppies-----try professional quality gloves.
Never waste money on electronic cruise control-----My Kawasaki Voyager had one-----and it could give shot of gas/power just when you didn't need it--like wet/slippery white line. Dangerous and thrilling. |

"Wrist Rest" ( http://www.hognutz.com/grips-throttle/188/ ) do not get in the way. Other straight "wrist rests" models do get in the way. - john grinsel wrote:

"Wrist Rest" do no hurt after long high mileage day because they allow for multiple positions. |

| My take----add as little as possible. Don't rely on "crutches" Many hand problems maybe re
lated to holding too tight (fear)---lack of experience---lack of using bike everyday. Holding on with hands too tight---makes itself known in #1 hands that hurt #2 pain between shoulder blades.
If wrist rests and other things like that were so important----road racers would use them.
And then being in some sort of good shape and not too over weight-----not riding every day or being trailer biker and suddenly confronted with doing 500 mile day=can be painful. Throttle stops can make long trips more enjoyable/bearable. |

Racing on a closed loop with professional drivers is completely different then driving on public road with professional distracted killers. If I were to do road racing (which I will never do) then I would pay attention to what the road racers use. |
