| They had a tornado in Harveyville, Kansas. I hope and pray that DickO is OK. Has anyone heard from him? |

| I have not heard yet either. Like Bill stated he last logged in Wed at 1:49am. Hopefully that means he is at least ok for now. Harveyville is not a very big place, from the video and pictures I did find I could not spot him in any of them. Dick our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Has anyone heard from him? I called DickO, his wife answered. She said they live 3 miles north of Harveyville and were untouched and safe. Dick has been very busy helping others that were devastated by the tornado. |

| Bill,
Great news. I used to live in Illinois so I understand what tornado's are capable of. Thanks for calling. |

| Hi All !! And thanks for all the concern. Thanks to Bill for calling and checking up on me (us) too. All the damage was done last Tuesday nite about 9 PM just as we were finishing up a bible study session here at my house. Thought it was just high winds and trees down 'til we tried to get thru town to my sister's place. When we were blocked by all the emergency equipment we turned up thru an alley to our church and lo and behold... It just wasn't there anymore.
At last count, some 20 houses and an apartment building were either completely destroyed or have since been demolished by wrecking crews. Many others received damage to varying degrees. Mainly roofs and tree damage. Was no warning and we wound up with one fatality and about 15 injuries. Was kinda' weird... the tornado was on the ground about 5 miles and 150 yards across. All-in-all, could have been much worse.
It was truly phenomenal seeing all the emergency management, demolition/removal, volunteers, law, Red Cross, Salvation Army, and health people working everything out. As bad as the damage was, it was nearly all cleaned out by yesterday evening. Except for some isolated local folks and volunteers, today was a day of rest and recovery. You can only go so hard for so long.
And this lazy butt just wasn't use to all that hard labor!! Will be back posting before long folks... thanks again!

| Glad y'all made it ok. I heard an interview of one father that may have been in Indiana or some other state in the same storm system that went through your area. A reporteer asked him about loosing everything (his house and everything in it are gone). He turned to his daughter standing beside him and said "we are all alive, we didn't loose anything". What a perspective on circumstances. Buildings can be replaced.
Dickoes can't. |

| Thanks once again to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
Looks like all the 'accounting' has been done and now most everyone affected is in the recovery process. Our church leaders are beginning the rebuilding task and all that that entails (lucky me, I had 'just' previously taken over as head trustee). Anyway there are now a thousand and one details to pore over. Will be in touch soon. Thanks again. |
