A mate is coming over on Friday and we're going to attempt to remove the front fairing to repair a broken lug.

I bought the scooter knowing that it had a few scuffs but hadn't realised that a lug was broken. The left hand top side of the fairing is loose and vibrates.

I've looked at the youtube video and it doesn't look too difficult. Wish me luck.

Bob

Go for it Bob... just be careful and don't get in a big hurry. You can do it.

Well, I did it. Had the front fairing off in around 50 minutes. Thanks to whoever posted the youtube link it helped a great deal, even without dialogue. Thanks too to Virg for pointing me in the right direction regarding glue.

Having removed the front fairing I discovered the broken left hand top tab that contains the captive nut. I used Poly-Weld to weld the broken tab back in place and then made a splint to reinforce it. There were also broken lugs along the edge of the fairing. I repaired these too by adding bits to them.

Reassembled everything. Job done in just under four hours.

Sounds like you have a level of patience that the prior owner lacked.

Bob,

It really is not such a scary proposition once you've done it. the thing that amazed me was the number of tools needed to complete the job. You can hold all of them in one relaxed hand - amazing! Very slick design.

I have a friend who stripped his 400 Burgman and it took him all day. They seems to be overloaded with hidden lugs/tabs that have to be pressed/squeezed/unclipped and generally cajoled to get the kit off - bit like a woman really.

My apologies ladies, puerile male humour.
