| Interesting, but anyone trying to use one would probably get a ticket. It's funny how they mention France having a hi-vis requirement. That's not just for bikes, according to Top Gear, a car must have one in it at all times. (Clarkson was making fun if it by wearing one the whole time he was in France.) |

| Motorcycle riders in France have had to have hi-viz reflective stickers or decals displayed on their helmets since the 70's. The compulsory hi-viz requirement on motorcycle clothing, and drivers having to carry breathalysers and a hi- viz waistcoat in their vehicles were brought in by a French government that's no longer in power. I read a few articles saying the regulations were brought in with a raft of other measures just to try and win votes.
It's no big deal, other EU countries require you to carry spare bulbs, torches, warning triangles, and first aid kits. Riders are wearing hi-viz vests widely anyway, either the cheapo industrial ones, military-spec like the Icon vest I sometimes wear, or similar versions that are closer fitting than the cheapo industrial ones. There's also plenty of new motorcycle jackets that feature hi-viz panels and sleeves, so it takes very little effort to comply with the new French rules. |

| Kurt, Meldrew is obviously feeling a bit off-colour! Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Cheers, |
